This book is definitely a worthwhile purchase for any massage therapist who is looking at expanding their marketing, whether they are just starting out or have an existing business they wish to grow. The author is an MT, so she speaks from experience and writes in an easy to understand style. My only criticism is that the book is already a tad dated -- the author recommends fax broadcasting as a marketing tool (very 1990s!) and does not delve enough into utilizing the internet as a marketing tool (it's there, just not in great detail; you will need another book to flesh that out). There are also a few downright silly ideas, but hey, they might just work for someone. They certainly enliven the book. That being said, there are lots of clever, low cost marketing ideas in this book and it is worth the purchase price.

As a new therapist I wasn't prepared for how difficult it would be to build a massage practice from scratch. My mother bought me a bunch of books to help me get going and I found this to be the most focused and practical business guide out of the books specifically for massage therapists. It has helped me grow my business from 6 clients a week to 25 in just 4 months. And all on a very low budget. Highly recommended.

After being Licensed as a LMBT for almost 2 years I purchased the book, One Year to a Successful Massage Therapy Practice. This book should be required reading at every Massage school. It does provide a clear vision and map on how to be a profitable Therapist while following your calling. James

I am an experienced massage therapist who has worked for someone else for over 20 years. I bought Laura's book and am using it as a guide to start my own practice. I find it very helpful so far. I really like the fact that it contains marketing ideas that do not involve money. It is important for someone like me starting all over again. The format is easy to follow. I skip chapters that do not pertain to me now, but that I can go back to as my client base grows. I love that this book is written by a professional massage therapist. I feel very optimistic that this book will aid me in reaching my personal goal of establishing a successful bodywork practice of my own.

I read many reviews on here and decided to purchase the book for myself.....I am officially a fan! I found so many ideas and so many new avenues to pursue in this massage world, many of which are unsaturated markets with us MT's....I look forward to beginning my business and I thank this book for giving me the added confidence boost.

I've been a massage therapist for more than 6 years, and plan on many more. I've owned a business and been an employee. My career path has seen me in a salon, a medical clinic, doing mobile massage and working for myself. This book has excellent suggestions for ALL of those situations. Laura has great ideas and suggestions that work for anyone on a budget or anyone looking to increase the bottom line. She is a massage therapist in a small town and has built her own business using these same marketing strategies - and they are realistic. When building a business or a clientele, usually there is more time than money, and this book works within that parameter. You just have to be willing to try new things. I wish this book had been required reading (and planning) when I was in massage school. Unfortunately, business classes seem to be missing key strategies; this book fills in those gaps. Kudos to the author for such a comprehensive, well-written handbook. I will be referring to this one for years to come.

This is a great book for anyone in the Massage Therapy practice. It is a great read with very useful information. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I recently purchased this book. I am excited. I cant wait to put it to use. I am not yet licensed, but I know this book will help me to develope a successful career. I recommend this book to anyone looking for some ideas to build their massage business. I will update my review as I put her ideas into practice.
