As former management consultant implementing SAP this book is the 1st practical guide helping you to setup and rollout a SAP-project. The regular project management courses offer you just the general things that you have to do. They don't tell you were the pitfalls are and how you can overcome these issues. Welti's book is giving, based upon a real life case, just that extra information which might help the project members and organisation in carrying out a successfull SAP-implementation. This book is a must for project managers, -members and managers involved in the complex SAP-projects.

Having implemented more than 10 complete SAP projects myself (as a consultant and later on as a project manager), I rate this book as very helpful. It has an especially practical approach and is very easy to read. Most of all I appreciated the very personal comments about problems commonly occurring and mistakes often done during the projects live-cycle. But also the checklists, summaries and other tools used in projects are very useful and of a high practical value. I can recommend this book to internal and external project managers, key-users, as well as consultants.

The book is absolutely great. It is easy to read and understand. It is a must for everybody implementing SAP R/3. The book contains so many useful tips and tricks and prevents you from making serious mistakes.It guides you well through the entire cycle of a project. The recommended project management tools help you to stay in time and budget. Very well done!

The stated subject of the book is implementing EPR packages with SAP R/3 software. It deals with the subject matter in great detail and in a very practical manner. The treatment of problems encountered and the "Lessons Learned" section of each chapter are particularly well done. Mr. Welti relates these only to the particular project in question. They are, however, applicable to almost any project that involves a change in the company system. For this reason the book is a valuable reference to any project manager. The book is, in my opinion, required reading for every project manager.

This book takes the reader through an actual European R/3 implementation. It describes in detail the steps and most importantly gives practical "lessons learned" in each phase of the project. It is as unbiased a book as I have seen. You should read this BEFORE you select a project integrator, if for no other reason than to keep the consultant honest.

This book will prove especially useful to the ones not in the know of ERP (and not only ERP) implementation project management. It has a really comprehensive chapter sequence and it is easy to read even by people that have just a year's experience on SAP (or other ERP software). The key concepts -pointed out by the author - that make an ERP implementation succesfull are useful to both consultants & managers.
For the ones already experienced in project management though, it is just a different opinion on the matter.

I've been collecting implementation/admin books over the last few months in prep for a large CRM and BW install at a client site. This one is fine from a generic perspective, but needs to be updated if the author expects people to still buy it. I'll stick with Jose Hernandez's admin book, George Anderson's implementation book, and Naeem Hashmi's BW book - the best out there.

The book provides real useful information out of real life implementation on a very high quality standard. This book is a must for every project manager of and ERP or IT project as project management is the most critical succesfactor for a succesful implementation. Provides easy and professional tools and references for the Project Manager which are applicable for Users, IT, Executives and Consultants.

This book gives you a lot of good advises and practical details that make it a very good tool and support for the implemention of SAP R/3 in your company. All the tips given by N. Welti are very informative and usefull for project management in general. Thank you very much for this book !

This concise, well-written book brings numerous practical examples and forms to light. It offers helpful summaries of key points. I was especially pleased that one can read this book within two hours and still have a useful reference text, even if you are a veteran of SAP or other software implementation projects.
