5.0 out of 5 stars Smart Book, August 7, 2001
By
Amy Pluto (Cleveland, OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart: 10 Strengths that Matter Most (Paperback)
"Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart" is a terrific book and I wish I had written it. It is very, very well researched and well organized, straight-forward and conversational. It is devoid of confusing jargon and preachiness, and is instead easy to understand, informative, and applicable. "Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart" was as easy to read as a magazine article. It is filled with self-quizzes, testimonials, quotes, interesting facts, and "10 steps to working smart." Unlike the typical magazine article, however, this book inspires the reader to look deep inside her psyche to realize her current place in her life and career. It opens her eyes to change and improvement while still being positive and upbeat. It is a practical and painless guide to becoming an empowered woman and employee, who has direction, control, and balance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable reading for any woman, December 13, 2001
This review is from: Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart: 10 Strengths that Matter Most (Paperback)
In Successful Woman's Guide To Working Smart: 10 Strengths That Matter Most, Caitlin Williams draws upon contemporary research, keen insights into current workplace realities, as well as the professional and personal spheres of the modern woman's life to establish that while women already have what is necessary to succeed in today's business climate, their are challenges and opportunities that demand new skills and a new mindset. Williams presents four principle themes: Inner Resilience (core strengths enabling a woman to perceive herself as confident, self-reliant, and capable of shaping her life in the way she deserves); Career Enhancement (career-building strengths enabling a woman to increase skills and a sense of competence, explore a full range of emerging opportunities, and flourish in professional life); Quality Of Life (nurturing strengths enabling a woman to take better care of herself and thrive in all aspects of her life); and The Big Picture (capstone strengths enabling a woman to contribute significantly to a corporate bottom line and position herself for leadership opportunities and future success). Successful Woman's Guide To Working Smart is invaluable reading for any woman contemplating entering the work force, as well as those women already on the job and seeking to maximize both their opportunities, achievements, and satisfactions in the workplace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart, August 26, 2001

This review is from: Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart: 10 Strengths that Matter Most (Paperback)
This book is clearly written and filled with practical steps leading toward self-discovery. In less than two chapters, I felt I was equipped with new tools that could be immediately applied to my job. While I seriously wish this book had been available when I first entered the work force, I honestly believe it can help even the most seasoned career woman make the most of her natural strengths and identify and enhance the ones in need of a little attention. Successful Woman's Guide to Working Smart is a book for today's woman, but has the kind of timeless common sense that will make it a classic in its genre.
