Book Description

2000
"Successful Personal Injury Investigation" is the only book in the investigative field that tells the reader HOW to conduct an investigation. It details, step-by-step, how to investigate over 100 types of accident and injury incidents. In addition, it is the premier training tool for new employees, and for standardizing an investigative business. For beginners, its chapters cover case and file management; witness interviews and declaration taking; photography, videotaping and diagraming; and dealing with insurance, ethics and experts. It then walks the reader through every conceivable type of vehicular accident: cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses, pedestrians, bicycles, tires, brakes, head-ons and sideswipes and rollovers, to name only a few. All manner of construction, premesis, and product cases are fully explained, along with numerous types of recreational and atheletic cases. These include accidents on the snow, water, in the air, on land, and include over a dozen diifferent sporting accidents, and how to investigate them. It also delves into train and ship accidents. Once the investigation is complete, the reader is then told how to write the report, serve legal documents and bill clients. A major bonus is the last 48 pages, which are laser cut for easy removal, and are all of the forms, formats and checklists one needs to be a first class investigator. It is considered a major reference for the very experienced investigators because it is simply impossible to remember everything that needs to be done in such a wide variety of cases. The only book written for both novice and long-time professional.

From the Publisher

It is not very often that a truly remarkable book comes along . . . a book that turns an entire industry on its ear. "Successful Personal Injury Investigation" is such a book. Never before has an investigator been willing to give up all the "secrets" of investigating over a hundred varying types of incidents. Although it is aimed at the accident/injury field, and at those investigators who represent the injured parties, it is the most comprehensive book ever written for the person who is just beginning any form of investigating, with hundreds and hundres of pages aimed at just that. It is in the classrooms of numerous colleges and investigative schools across the country. It is used as a reference by insurance companies, attorneys and hundreds and hundreds of the nation's top investigators, who consider it one of the most valuable tools in their libraries. It has been variously referred to as the "How-to-get-the-job-done-book" and the "Investigatgor's Bible." You will not go wrong with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, Educational, Comprehensive - Excellent!, December 4, 2004
By
Michael Beltz, FCI "truthsleuthpi" (Orlando, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Successful personal injury investigation: Master the techniques of finding the facts that win cases for plaintiff attorneys (Paperback)
As a licensed private investigator, I can personally attest that Francis D. "Frank" Ritter, CLI, CII has gone to great lengths to compose an up-to-date, informative, educational, and comprehensive text. This is easily the most comprehensive (emphasis added) text on the topic of legal (civil) investigations in existence.

Mr. Ritter's text is very detailed and includes helpful diagrams and photos. The text also covers certain types of civil investigations that aren't (to the best of my knowledge) covered anywhere else. Another advantage of this text is that many of the techniques described in the book transcend to other aspects of private investigation (i.e. interviews and statements, report writing, photography, evidence collection and storage, etc.). Once again, this is the most comprehensive book in existence that pertains to legal (civil) investigations - period.

I would also like to personally thank Mr. Ritter for taking the time to sign my book at this year's FALI Annual Conference, where Mr. Ritter gave a wonderful presentation regarding report writing.

If you are interested in other texts regarding legal (civil) investigations, I would highly (emphasis added) recommend both "Techniques Of Legal Investigation" by Anthony M. Golec (ISBN: 0398065152) and "Complex Legal Investigations: The Ultimate Guide For Conducting Better Personal Injury Investigations" by James W. Harbert CLI, FCI (ISBN: 1891247557). Both are excellent texts that are well worth the price. With all three (3) of the aforementioned texts, your legal (civil) investigations library will be complete.

As always, check with your local library or bookstore to see if you can read/review this or any title before deciding to make a purchase. This method has effectively allowed me to make the most of my investigative library budget.

I hope you found this review helpful. If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me via email at MichaelBeltz@FALI.com. Respectfully submitted, MB.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and a must have, November 17, 2006
This review is from: Successful personal injury investigation: Master the techniques of finding the facts that win cases for plaintiff attorneys (Paperback)
I have been in the investigative field for over 28 years. During that time I have accumulated a very extensive library of books, videos and CD's covering a wide range of investigative information and techniques. If I was only able to keep one book, it would have to be Frank Ritter's "Successful Personal Injury Investigation." Frank has done a superior job of explaining, step by step and by check lists, all of the important aspects of personal injury investigation; and he does it in a very professional yet easy to understand format. This book is a "must have" for every investigator, attorney and paralegal.---Keith R. Steele, CLI, CFE, FCI, CCDI, STEELE INVESTIGATION AGENCY, Bradenton, Florida

5.0 out of 5 stars A student user's review, May 6, 2010
This review is from: Successful personal injury investigation: Master the techniques of finding the facts that win cases for plaintiff attorneys (Paperback)
I am a student in the Associate of Science in Private Investigation Services Program. I have enjoyed reading Successful Personal Injury Investigation. My instructor Mr. Michael Beltz sometimes will refer to some text books that are really boring like "eating oatmeal, three times a day for 3 months," your book is not like that. I actually laugh sometimes when I read your book. It is if you are trying to speak right to me. I am learning a lot from your book. I hope that City College continues to use your book, so other students can benefit. You may post my comments, [since] people need to know that your book is worth buying.
