Short, sweet, and NECESSARY for fiction writers,

This review is from: Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction (Paperback)
Camacho has created a piece of work that talks to fiction writers like no other recent book out there. I've read the "biggies" (the Ross couple, Poynter, and the ones they suggest) but this is the first book that tells FICTION writers what to do to promote their novels. Also, the biggies tend to tell fiction writers how much more difficult it is for success "if you're a fiction writer." That's biased opinions that I simply got tired of reading. Besides, fiction writers have the advantage of being completely new and staying that way. Yes, I can write a book about teen wizards, but it better not be TOO similar to the famous one. This isn't the case with non-fiction books. Since nobody can copyright a subject, non-fiction competes directly with itself.
Camacho doesn't play this game of fiction vs. non-fiction. Although non-fiction writers can benefit from this book, he stresses that Successfully Marketing was written for fiction writers only. Leaving out the fluff needed to score a higher cover price, he cuts to the chase on practically every page. This book is most if not all of the notes you'll ever need when it comes to marketing your novel, the story the world needs to know exists.

A Very Practical Tool for Authors,
By Paul L. Wegkamp, Jr. (Heathsville, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book to any author who wants very practical and effective suggestions on how best to market their book. I have used a number of Mr. Camacho's suggestions to help market my true crime book. The author quickly explains how best to use just about every facet of book marketing, whether it be how to use the web or how to produce an effective marketing toolkit on a shoe-string budget, or any other marketing tool you can think of. The book also contains a wealth of information about useful resources for any author who wants to do their own marketing.

Essential Suggestions for Fiction POD Writers,
By
This review is from: Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction (Paperback)
This is not a book about writing. It is only concerned with marketing a book of fiction. Marketing is a necessary chore for all writers no matter how the writer's book gets published. If you have a story to tell and a desire to put it down in an electronic file or a sheaf of papers, then you are probably hoping someone will read it. Thats where marketing comes in and that's where you spend smart hours developing a demand for your fictional tale. Austin Camacho's book, Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction is a valuable resource. I have just finished five romantic mysteries. One is published "Beneath the Mirror" and I have decided to publish the remaining four within two months! So now, I have my work cut out for me. Marketing! Thank you Austin for lighting the way.

A solid treatise on marketing FICTION,
By Dusty "Author The Easiest Way--EVER!! series ... (Montrose, CA, United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)

This review is from: Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction (Paperback)
I emphasized "fiction" because this book is all but useless for promoting "non-fiction," which is just fine, as there are about a million books out there on how to sell "how-to" and non-fiction, and only two books I would recommend on how to promote fiction. This is one of them.
The bottom line on this book is that it works. It's worth the 15 bucks and it gets to the point without fluffing itself up on grammatical styles, cover art, or advice on landing an agent or publisher. 109 pages plus some spartan front and backmatter, but don't you dare let that stop you from buying this, even if you have to skip a meal to afford it. Forgive the layout (sorry dee, please increase the margins in the next edition) and the occasional font size changes. You are buying this book for the information. Austin Camacho knows his stuff - and he generously shares it without adding ANY fluff. I personally highlighted about 30% of the entire text for easy reference. IF YOU READ THIS BOOK: you will learn what you need to do "right now" even on a shoe-string budget to get book sales, and establish yourself as a well-known author. This is a WONDERFUL book to start out with. Once you have read and DONE everything in this book, move on to Jodee Blanco's "Complete Guide to Book Publicity" (get the newest edition) and move on to the advanced stuff. Look: starting a business for fifteen bucks (and that is really what you are doing as an author) is all but impossible these days. Selling your POD book using this text is not only a possibility - it is e-a-s-y! I just wish I had this book 6 months ago when I decided to help my novelist friend promote his own works.

This book exceeds its title.,
By Harold Bowman (Lebanon, Pa USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction (Paperback)
Don't judge this book by its title! The information is by no means limited to fiction or for that matter POD. Within the first 20 pages one begins to understand the amount of work that goes into a successful book, after it has been written. Thank you, Mr. Camacho for sharing your experience and knowledge. This book provides invaluable insights to successful publishing with POD. The defining and execution of a marketing plan leaves few questions and many avenues to pursue to make one's book a best seller. Harold L. Bowman, Penn Ave Publishing

Successfully Marketing Print-on-Demand Fiction by Austin Camacho is an excellent book that gives you real down-in-the-trenches advice from someone who's been there and done that.
I highly recommend you read this book before you even write a page of your new novel. -- Jeff Rivera (Author of Forever My Lady: A Novel & Oh Yes I Can!) www.JeffRivera.com |
