Strategic Battletech gaming at its best, April 19, 2011
This review is from: The Succession Wars: A Battletech Grand Strategic Game [BOX SET] (Hardcover)
I bought this years ago, when it first came out, and it was simply amazing. There is alot in this game that truly shows what a grand scale strategic war board game should be like.
In my opinion, it is not for people who just want super simple (example: clue, sorry, ladders and chutes, etc..) instructions. But once you learn the instructions, which is not hard as long as you take the time to learn them, then you will never look back..and most other games will pale in comparison.
This game is for you if you:
1) like battletech
2) like strategic war games
3) like controlling an empire...not just a mech.
4) you have at least one other person, besides yourself, who is going to be playing with you.
Also, on a side note, if you do like all the above, but prefer things like this on a computer, try out [...] it is an empire building, strategic war game with lots of other actual humans playing other empires..it is in the battletech universe, and is easy to learn. If you end up playing that, I'm Grey Buddhist and my empire is Dharma Industries, drop me a line.

Backstabbing goodness, March 24, 2000

This review is from: The Succession Wars: A Battletech Grand Strategic Game [BOX SET] (Hardcover)
Based in the popular Battletech universe, Succession Wars places you at the helm of a galaxy-spanning empire. There are 5 nations, and it's every man for himself. Much like in real lifee, treachery and backstabbing are the key to victory, as you must employ the principles of Realpolitik and invade your allies when they least expect it.
