This review is from: Succubus: The Ghost of Isabel Archer (Paperback)
I enjoyed reading Succubus by Blase Harris. It is a collection of stories about psyciatric and dying patients and their doctors, nurses, etc. It enters the spirit world and gives a lot of references to Greek and other mythologies. He writes it mentioning a name' de plume and I felt at times that I was able to be a character in the book and at times I felt I was the author of some of the words. His discription of Hawaii, its culture, geography, local ways is right on the money. As a high school teacher, it has given me some insight into the type of lives some of our local students have been subjected to. He gives detailed and colorful descriptions of rooms, buildings, outside locations. He uses language that is varied, pleasing, and expands the vocabulary. His concept of seeing "reality" through metaphors helps me to construct and repair the metaphors that I see my life through. The book has a few typos but is well worth reading.
