4.0 out of 5 stars would it shatter your illusion if this angel had a past?, October 26, 2001
This review is from: Not Such An Innocent Girl [Australian Exclusive CD] (Audio CD)
"Not Such An Innocent Girl" is the debut solo single from Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham. Although Vicky did release a single last year with True Steppers & Dane Bowers entitled "Out Of Your Mind", this is her first true solo outing. Let's take a looky-loo shall we?

1) Album Version - 3:17 - Your standard pop track that could have been sung by any tart of the moment. I believe it's the fact that it's Posh Spice that this song has been trashed by some. This is not a bad song by any means. Nothing that will ever be remembered, but it is a decent enough track. Victoria's vocals have improved alot since her early Spice days, and unlike "Out Of Your Mind" with the True Steppers, the vocals are not run through a vocoder first.

2) In Your Dreams (bonus track) - 3:52 - ZZZZZZZZ. This is the sound of me sleeping as I listen to this droll, boring track. Vicky, you are not a ballad singer. At all. This is pure cheese. And not good cheese. The lyrics are uninspired, which is shocking considering it took SIX people to write it!! Skip this. Skip it.

3) Sunship Mix - 5:17 - Not usually a fan of the two-step frenzy that the UK seems to love at the moment, but this one is a definate exception. The vocals are sped up to match a head-bopping, toe-tapping beat. The song probably would have had higher charting action if this was the original version, rather than the version that's on the LP. This is very good.

4) Robbie Rivera Main Mix - 6:58 - Very rarely does Robbie Rivera disappoint me. His remix for Billie Piper's "Day & Night" was my second favorite track of 2000! Robbie's known for his delicious disco licks, and this one does not disappoint. Again, the vocals are sped up and seem to work well with a dance beat, which will entice club-goers to the dance floor for a few minutes. After about 4 minutes though, the vocals disappear, and it's just listless beats.

5) Robbie Rivera's 3am Dark Mix - 8:11 - This mix must be mistitled. It should've been called Robbie Rivera's 3am Dark Dub. The mix is stripped of vocals and what we have here is a very late night house track. It's a good dub, but fans of Victoria will be disappointed at the lack of vocal.

All in all a decent release. Would've liked to have seen something more along the lines of the True Steppers release, but there's always another single waiting in the wings isn't there?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great song, May 2, 2003

I really enjoy this song a lot. It's very fast, puts you in a good mood. Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice is decent to listen to, she was always my favourite Spice Girl. Finally she sings, something she never got to do rarely when she was a Spice Girl.

This is the most funky and groovy song since the Spice Girls hit the planet POP in`96 with their Girl power attitude!
Victoria Beckham proves everyone wrong by releasing this single, the Lady CAN sing!If you like the single then get the album! Its wicked, and a really funky poprecord! The B-side is a lovely but a bit Zzzz type of ballad, but listening more than once gives the song more strenght. The re-mixes aint that great, atleast not the dub version.Go Victoria! Spice Girls FOREVER....

5.0 out of 5 stars Goooooooood, October 15, 2001
This review is from: Not Such An Innocent Girl [Australian Exclusive CD] (Audio CD)
I've just bought the whole album, and I would have 2 say that it's just as good as the single Not Such an Innocent Girl. Victoria's vocal is good, but she struggles a lot 2 keep it clean and up, But it's worth the money so go out and buy it now.

( It's released in the States and here in Europe ) I don't know if it's released in Japan yet.

Victoria is and will always be the best Spice Girl.

I really lvoe this song. It has an addictive chorus and the music video for the song is quite impressive. Vic's vocals are quite impressive considering that she wasn't the star of the Spice Girls. I also recremend Victoria's album, in stores in the UK now. You can order the album at amazon.co.uk if you don't live in the UK. I did. It's incredible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad start... could be very good, October 8, 2001

Although not as good as Kylie Minogue, Victoria Beckham (ex Posh Spice) does bring us the same type of Brit pop we've all come to enjoy. This track is catchy, fun and moves Victoria out in front where she should have been a long time ago. I can only hope that everything else on the album is as good as this first single.
