Product Description

Size: 60 Grams (2.10 oz) Powder

Sucralose is a sweetener that is currently used to replace sugar in a number of food products. Discovered in 1976, Sucralose has been tested and safety approved in 80 countries worldwide.

Sucralose is actually derived from sugar; it is synthesized through the selective chlorination of the sugar molecule. Specifically, chlorine molecules are substituted for 3 hydroxyl groups that form the naturally occurring sugar molecule. The result is a very sweet substance – about 600 times sweeter than sucrose – which is remarkably safe and has no aftertaste, but, because it is not metabolized by the body, has no calories.

Currently, Sucralose is used in a wide variety of food products, including soft drinks and breakfast bars. It has several unique properties which make it suitable for cooking, canning or baking. Sucralose is, perhaps, the safest synthetic sweetener.

Because of its high safety rating and flexible use, Sucralose is of great benefit to those wishing to consume less sugar in order to enhance health and cut calories. Sucralose is most common in prepared food products such as candy and breakfast bars. However, the fact that it is heat stable also makes it suitable for cooking, canning and baking. It is conceivable that Sucralose may be a satisfactory substitute for sugar in every capacity that sugar is currently used.

Because Sucralose is derived from sugar, its taste is very natural, not at all ‘chemical’, and it has no unpleasant aftertaste. Supplement facts information: Servings per container is based on 500G Bag.

I make alot of sweet tea. A gallon every other day. I was using baking Splenda but even the generic costs about $10 a bag. I could get maybe 5 gallons of tea out of one of those bags. I decided to look for a more cost effective alternative. This is it! This package was smaller than I expected (about the size of my hand) but it's so concentrated it will last me far far longer than Splenda.

I use 1/8tsp to sweeten an entire gallon of tea. That is probably a little strong for most. Here are some other rough equivalents I found on the internet.

1t. Sucralose powder = 12.5 cups sugar
1/2t. Sucralose powder = 6 1/4 cups sugar
1/4t. Sucralose powder = 3 1/8 cups sugar
1/8t. Sucralose powder = ~1 1/2 cups sugar
1/16t. Sucralose powder = ~3/4 cup sugar
1/32t. Sucralose powder = ~1/3 cup sugar

Without a doubt this is one of the best merchants & products here on Amazon (no I'm not the seller, just a very satisfied customer). I make my own zero carb liquid splenda which is far more economically (and has no maltodextrin which raises the carb count), by mixing about an 1/8th of a teaspoon of this powdered sucralose into a dropper bottle filled with filtered water. it blends extremely easily, and there's no sediment causing the need to shake Everytime it's used. With just a drop or two (or more depending on your tastes... And depending on whether you use a higher amount of the powder to mix), you can sweetens an entire pitcher of iced tea, kool-aid, smoothies, margarita's, baked good recipes, etc . I've had mine for about four months now and we use this sweetener all the time... And it's really lasting our family well. Best Wishes

I had previous purchased another pure Sucralose product, Sweetzfree, that came premixed in water and was happy with it. I decided to try this product and mix my own since it is less expensive. I am very happy with this powder purchased here on Amazon.

This product is so intensely concentrated, you will unavoidably waste the powder if you do not mix it with water to a set concentration before using. Measuring this powder by volume can result in inaccuracy and wasted product. Using a digital scale to mix it at a set concentration in water will produce a liquid with a predictable sweetening power every time and save money. I cannot imagine trying to carry this with me in powder form to sweeten drinks on the go.

I use purified water to mix with the powder. I keep the mixed product in a dropper bottle purchased on Amazon: SEOH Eye Dropping Bottle with Cap LDPE 30ml I wash the bottle in mild detergent before each refilling, rinse with a mild bleach solution, then rinse with purified water again before filling. I don't refrigerate the mixed product and find it will keep on the shelf indefinitely (mine gets used up in 6 months).

Pure powdered Splenda cannot be dissolved more strongly than 1 part in 3 parts water. Once the water reaches a certain saturation, no more will dissolve and will be wasted. Sucralose is limited to a 25 - 27% concentration.

In a clean container, mix 8 grams (.28 oz - that's POINT TWO EIGHT OUNCES) Pure Powdered Sucralose with 1 oz. of hot water (the water can be measured either by weight or by volume). The Splenda will dissolve more quickly if the water is hot, but no need to boil.

I usually mix 1 oz. Sucralose powder in 3 oz.

A real money saver, provided you have a way to dole it out. A syrup made from one level teaspoon of powder and 1/8 C (2T) water has the sweetness of 1 level teaspoon of sugar per drop. Two drops equals a packet of Splenda and
there is no dissolving to deal with. The only downside is dealilng with such small measurements. Like another reviewer, I purchased the dropper bottles at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0026KCD3E/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_4 and found that to work perfectly. So far, I'm on the fourth use of the first bottle, and it's still quite servicable. That makes the total investment VERY much less than buying splenda packets or even splenda bulk, and much easier to deal with in terms of mess and precision of measurement.

This stuff is indistinguishable in taste from the "stretched" products like granular Splenda and far far less expensive! Once you get used to measuring such tiny amounts, it's very easy to use. To give you some idea of its strength, 1/8 teaspoon is equal to 1.5 cups of sugar. For a bowl of cereal, a match-head worth is plenty. Grab some of the flat, wooden coffee stirrers from your local coffee shop (or buy them) and use the tip as a measure. I use the smallest of a tiny set of measuring spoons available at many places including Amazon. The smallest is called a "smidgen" and I use about half that for a 12-ounce mug of coffee. And I like my coffee very sweet.

I paid about $37 including tax for 3.5 ounces of sucralose. To get the sugar equivalent, multiply by 600: 3.5*600=2100 ounces of sugar. 2100/16=131.25 pounds of sugar. Splenda granular is sold in 5 and 10 pound equivalent bags. I'll use the larger 10-pound equivalent which is less expensive. One such bag costs a minimum of $13 anywhere I can find it including Amazon with the exception of sales. If you figure the number of 10# equivalent bags: 131.25/10=13.13. Multiply this by $13 to get the amount you'd pay for this much sucralose "fluffed up" into Splenda: 13.13*$13=$170.00. So you're getting roughly $170 worth of sweetener for a price of around $37. I call that a bargain.

Add to that the absence of maltodextrin which is used to make Splenda Granular "fluffy". It isn't all that bad for my blood sugar and I'm diabetic; I've heard others claim otherwise. But the stuff gives me gastric "issues" and I do not miss it! It is known to cause gas and diarrhea in sensitive individuals.
