I bought this book because I was impressed by a preview of the artwork, and in that regard I was not disappointed. However, the writing leaves something to be desired. The story has a lot of plot points that don't really seem to be resolved and the ambiguity doesn't really contribute to the plot in a good way. In the end I felt let down, like all the things the book was trying to do were unfulfilled. Maybe this was too short a book to do the kind of story this was geared to be, but it still left me unsatisfied.

Well with respect to the previous review, Sudden Gravity is not a typical narrative, and if you're looking for a straight up easy to follow tale, then this clearly isn't the book for you. But IF you're the sort who like to engage a book actively, I think you'll find a wealth of treasures awaiting you. It's a week of time of the lives of the people in the hospital- somestories are brought to a conclusion, while others are left unresolved- but the overall sense of mystery and bizarro world logic will all but demand multiple readings. Think of it as a dream... a really really unnerving, unsettling dream that still is somehow warm and inviting.

Nightmarish, dark, twisted, and hauntingly surreal.

The book follows Dr. Henry Auget as he follows a string of disturbing murders while trying to uncover the secrets behind Bentham Hospital's strange and dark past.

Originally released in 1998 through Caliber Comics and re-released in 2006 by Dark Horse, this short but dense work of art features a storyline intertwining elements of the occult, murder and conspiracy.

Fans of David Cronenberg & David Lynch should not even hesitate to acquire this book, as many of the plot elements come across the twisted worlds that these directors have created.
