2.0 out of 5 stars eh
good, but not a page turner...was hard for me to be motivated to read it, so it took me a long time to get through it... 'Michelle Remembers' is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suffer The Child, July 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
I found this book on my dusty bookshelf and saw I must've started it a long time ago so I decided to try again. Just into the first few pages I realized why i might have put it down. But I continued to read and was instantly brought to tears of the horrific tortures this poor girl went through and the amazing capabilities she had to be able to cope. I was comletely baffled by how this child was able to endure and survive such torment and abuse from her mother, the cult, and numerous men. Though it made me sick, I just couldn't put it down. I had to reach the end to see the amazing outcome of this now grown woman. It was difficult to read but rewarding in the end knowing what those therapists were able to unveil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing, Beautifully Written Novel, August 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
A friend let me borrow this book about 4 years ago. Since then I have desperatly searched to find it. It has been an obsession. I found this book to be incredibly dark, and odd. I think this book is incredibly interesting, and I would recommend highly to anyone that is interested in the inner workings of the mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A frightening yet accurate account of SRA, August 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
Anyone who has experienced Satanic Ritual Abuse, known someone who has, or is interested in learning more about the subject will benefit from this book.

At first, it may seem as if this book is fiction, but, sadly, it is not. And what Spencer describes within the confines of this text is highly accurate as well as highly disturbing.

Being the victim of ritual abuse, I can say that reading this book was both disturbing and relieving (Relieving to know I wasn't alone). Pick up a copy of this book. I guarantee you won't want to set it down. :v)

5.0 out of 5 stars Suffer the Child, March 30, 2000
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
I read this book first when I was in 8th grade then again in 11th. I'm now in my first year of college and am reading it again. This book is amazing and a good source for MPD research. It has references in it as you read. It is horrifying what Jenny went through. This book tells you just how cruel people can be to each other and to children. Suffer the Child tells a lot about Satanic rituels. It is graphic and hard to believe but it is true! Judith Spencer hit the nail on the head with this book proving that MPD can exist with more than few personalities. I know this is a book that I will read many times and still be amazed every time I read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutally Honest, A Must Have For All Victims, August 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
I first read Suffer the Child after I graduated from high school. I don't even recall who gave it too me but at the time I didn't reconize myself as the victim of Child Sexual Abuse that I am. I remember reading parts of the book to by then future husband and saying I know how that feels I have been there. That got the ball rolling for me. I told my husband of the things I had suffered, and have told anyone who would listen every since. this book is not just about the effects of cult abuse on one girl but the effects of Sexual abuse as well.. Read this book and prepare to cry and see the damage done not jut to Jenny but to yourself as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate and very real, July 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
This is one of the best non-fiction books I have ever read. Judith Spencer really looks into her subject thoroughly before writing and publishing. I recommend this book to anyone looking into the subject of ritual abuse or Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly referred to as Multiple Personality Disorder.) Also, after reading this book, try reading her other book Satan's High Priest. The two books are related. You will get a whole new perspective on evil in our times, and perhaps better understand how tough it is for adult survivors of ritual abuse.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellently written, June 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
As a person who knows "Jenny" I was in awe of all the things in this book. She, herself, told me about the book and suggested I read it. It is shocking what one human being can go through and still come out the other side. The personalitis she developed are only a testament to her strength and will to live. The book helped me to know her better as a friend, and a fellow human being. A must read for anyone interested in MPD's and the human spirit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eye opener, April 10, 2002
This review is from: Suffer the Child (Paperback)
The book was very interesting and informative. It really opens one's eyes to secretive cults.
I did find it a bit graphic, but maybe it had to be so so that it would let people know how bad some things really are.

Feels like I wrote parts of it. very scary and triggering . Read with care and if you have a past in satanic abuse, don't read it at all.
