Good For A Few Chuckles,
By
This review is from: Sufferer: A Survivor Parody [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a huge fan of SURVIVOR, and I eagerly lap up any related merchandise, so purchasing this tape was a no-brainer. I don't know if it would have any value to someone not familiar with the show, but I thought it was a decent parody. Nothing was roll-on-the-floor funny, but the tape did a good job of lampooning many elements of the show. The reason I didn't rate the tape higher is because it is so short. I don't know the exact running time, but it didn't feel like it was longer than 10 minutes. That puts the cost of this tape at about $1 per minute. The amount of entertainment I got from it isn't worth that much.

Extraordinary Parody - a must see,
By "impepa" (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews

Sufferer is the perfect parody, not only of Survivor (of which I am a fanatic fan) but also of the other reality shows currently in vogue. Soooooooo funny and fast moving ... I couldn't stop laughing ... what humorous twists! The cast characterizations are remarkable, almost eerie is an amusing way. I particularly enjoy watching Sufferer on my big screen TV (I watch it again every time a new person comes to visit). And everyone loves the music ... what a catchy chant/tune ... we now go around singing, "yip, yip, yip, yip". This was my first buy on Amazon.com and it was a great one (and easy).

Did I watch the same video?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sufferer: A Survivor Parody [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Agreeing with "A viewer from vienna, VA", this has to be the worst video I ever watched. Only 15 minutes long, there was nothing funny about this video at all - not even from a crude or juvenile point of view. There was no catchy music, nobody remotely resembled the character they were portraying, I can't fathom how anyone from any background, age or level of education could find this film to be worth the tape it's copied on to. Doesn't even rate a spot on Atomfilms.com. They say everyone has their 15 minutes of fame, the producers of this film blew theirs ...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sufferer: A Survivor Parody [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video was an Amazon recommendation for me. I read the description and ordered it. Today it arrived and I watched it. Much of the material was rather clever and funny if you had seen the corresponding references on Survivor. However I must say that since I had failed to read any of the previous customer reviews I was pretty shocked and disappointed to learn this video was only 15 minutes long. I wasn't expecting 39 hours but I figured it would be at least an hour.

Outstanding farce!,

Outstanding farce by a fresh group of actors. Character portrayals are right there. The textural depth-of-field is well played - while the lead character is the central focus there is often another visual joke over their shoulder in the background - usually that couple who can't keep their hands off each other! Must see it several times to pick up all the humor. Hilarious!!Watch for future work by these young film makers, especially the couple, Greg and Colleen ( Matt Olmon and Vivian Holtzman )

I laughed for 15 minutes straight! My favorite line is at the tribal council: "I will now read the names slowly and dramatically so we can stretch the show out another 10 minutes." A definite winner!!!!

The Worst Video Ever Made,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sufferer: A Survivor Parody [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the worst video ever made. It is an amateur production involving a bunch of people sitting in a room and ad-libbing and free-associating (at least I hope this doesn't actually reflect a script) regarding various Survivor themes. It is depressing that this is the best these people could do with a subject that is ripe for parody.

I was feelin' down n a friend bought "Sufferer" for me (I was really a "Survivor" fanatic). I have enjoyed this parody over and over again and I'm glad I found this page so I could contribute a rave review. It's funny on funny and it took me several showings to catch all the subtle "jokes"; both up front and in the background. It was the perfect gift ... thank you.
