Pick it up.,

As I listened to this album at work today several things went through my mind. I wondered why so many people aren't into this band, why they're not huge, and what separates this record from other records (like terror's lowest of the low) that got HUGE but sound almost exactly the same. Honestly if anything, this record is technical hardcore at it's best. Truly.
I guess it all boils down to the same old scene bs: kids hate on bands because they can, because the lyrical content doesn't revolve around the dropping of the f bomb between every other word. Or because they are a religious oriented band. I don't know much about this current christian "hate" trend in hardcore, but i do know this: I care about lyrical content. I'm not edge, but I appreciate edge music...and in this same vein...I'm not christian, but I appreciate a positive message. Who doesn't? I could be way off. All I know is when I listen to the new comeback kid record, every time I hear the background vocals (tracks 5,9) I want to listen to this record instead. I'm going out on a limb here to say that anyone who hates on this album and claims to be scene needs to get their priorities checked. The production is excellent. Every track is tight. Though I thorougly enjoyed all previous albums, I feel this is their best work. It's simply terrible this band doesn't get more recognition.

pretty cool,

I read the lyrics before I listened and thought, "wow, these guys now how to write good lyrics!" Very thought-provoking!
The music is awesome, though it is missing a guitar solo or two. But that's cool. Heavy, fast, double-kick to knock your ear drums out. Reminds me of when I was eighteen (ages ago) and wishing that all of Metallica's songs were like Battery! Only these guys (and one chick) are loads heavier, and their knack for rhythm is greatly appreciated by me (I'm a drummer/guitarist). The only down-side is that the songs are all in the same key, so it seems repetitive, but the lyrics and hardness make up for it!!!!

very average,
This review is from: Suffering the Loss (Audio CD)
This CD was extremely average. The music goes well with the vocals, but there was absolutely no variety in the music or the vocals. Every song sounds like the last one and the drum beat sounds the same all throughout the whole album. Hardcore fans will probably enjoy the album, but if you're into metal (death or black), you probably won't give this album more than 3 or 4 listens.

When I listen to Figure Four's new album I picture a swirling circle mosh. I want to raise my fist, hug someone, scream, and throw the nearest person that I can find into the pit, ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!! Buy this album, it'll break your friggin' nose!!! Pure hardcore at it's best.

Suffering the Loss?,

I would definatly say we're suffering a loss. A loss in change of sound. Each song is very very very similar to the last. Talented maybe, but not too good with varying sounds.

mediocre metal/hardcore,

All the reviews i read for this album were good, so i went ahead and picked it up. I'll admit that they do have talent, but there is nothing really distinguishing that sets them apart from the dozens of other bands doing this style of music (hatebreed, throwdown, etc.). All the ingredients are there: the heavy breakdowns, the harsh, hatebreed-like vocals, but over all i wasn't very impressed. They still get 3 stars for being so downright brutal, but Suffering the Loss definitely lacks in the creativity department.

figure four has been around for quite a while. this is one of the best straight up hardcore cds ive heard in a long time. if you like hoods, hatebreed, any band like that, get this. i got it right when it came out, but just now got to the review. the singer (andrew) plays guitar for comeback kid now and this band has been put on the back burned. he needs to get to figure four again and make another great cd with them

Destructive Hardcore!!!,

This album is at the same level as Hatebreed's latest CD. It combines metal intensity with brutal breakdowns to create one of the best Hardcore/Metal releases of the year. These guy play some heavy stuff! I love the singer's voice. Deep and maddening. At times the CD even beats out Hatebreed in being totally ferocious. If you like extremely heavy, moshing, fast, hardcore, do not pass up this great album. It will boil your blood!

The Future of Hardcore!!,

After listening to "Suffer The Loss" I believe that Figure Four will be one of the next big hardcore/metal acts to take over the scene. I heard one of their tines, Carried Away, on a metal station on Live365, and I was blown away enough to track down a copy of the whole disc. They're very similar to Hatebreed, but with a little bit more melody and speed in some situations. At first I thought that they were just another Hatebreed clone, but after listening to the disc 3 or 4 times I really started to hear their own sound coming through. I can't wait for further releases and I can honestly say that this CD is a MUST HAVE for any metal fan, hardcore or not. MOSH!!
