5.0 out of 5 stars Before Demon Hunter Before Training for Utopia there was..., November 15, 2004

Focal Point. To give a brief discription of the band first I will quote what solid state records had to say about them: "Focal Point is a step beyond hardcore. Pushing the boundaries with punk and metal overtones. The multi-dimensional approach to songwriting is both innovative and intelligent. Selections such as `Inception', `Broken Bonds', `No Return', and `Attainment' reach beyond the surface for deeper meaning. One that the band wants you to figure out for yourself. A central theme of non-conformity and self-respect can be found in an age when lyrics generally reflect negativity. Focal Point guides the listener towards something more positive without sacrificing any of the intensity or aggression needed. A positive outlet for those searching for a higher purpose." That right there is something I totally agree with. Of course Focal Point doesn't have the technical premise of Training for Utopia, and not the amazing musicianship of Demon Hunter but it has it's charm. This is definately for fans of Living Sacrifice, Training for Utopia, and Strongarm.

5.0 out of 5 stars You don't know hardcore til you hear these guys., November 13, 1998

Painful vocals, screaming guitars, drumming and bass like you've never heard...Sadly, there is only one Focal Point and they broke up...I suggest that you buy their CD "Suffering of the Masses" (It has a really cool cover) while it's still out there. If you really like HC and want just more than one CD of it, get Living Sacrifice, a Christian Hardcore band with a Christian message. Skaskaska, lalala, FiFiFiF...Yeah. Peace out.

"Out of Print" eh? You have in your possession the most powerful straightforward hardcore album of all time and it is out of print. Shame on you.

Great Album! If you like the melodic hardcore, glaring screaming vocals, you need to check this out. Heard this back in the day. Tooth and Nail has put out some great stuff. If you like this check out Training for Utopia. The song "A Good Feeling" from Plastic Soul Impalement rocks my netherworld.

I first saw these guys at Unashamed's last show, and bought their 7". So I couldn't wait until Suffering of the Masses" came out. I was the first one to buy it in my church book store. And let me tell you it is awesome, the vocals are great, and their are some the best breakdowns you will ever here. The lyrics are great, especally "Homicide" a song against aboration. If you like bands like Earth Crisis get this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Focal Point are west coast HxC kings., October 21, 1999

This review is from: Suffering of the Masses (Audio CD)
Focal Point's Cd Suffering Of The Masses is one the best Hardcore CD's to ever have the old school sound. They are totally heavy. The CD itself is produced very nicely. My personal favs are "When I Die," "Neglected," and "Deception." The lyrics discuss the issues of abortion, alcholism, and judging people. This CD has only one thing taking away from it and that is the fact that the CD has 2 instrumentals. They are both good songs but kind of short and would be better with some lyrics. Focal Point's(r.i.p.) guitarist is now in Training For Utopia. Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A petition for Focal Point to reunite, August 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Suffering of the Masses (Audio CD)
Focal Point is probably the most hardcore, crowd bouncing band that not only the Christian world, but the entire world has ever seen. It is absolutely saddening to hear that they have broken up. If you want Focal Point to reunite please post your comments on this summary board.
