4.0 out of 5 stars Pour A Little Sugar On Me, January 7, 2000

Over 30 years now, and the world just can't seem to get enough "Sugar." This extended CD single featuring the "Candfloss" mix of "Sugar, Sugar" is quite interesting though. It's basically the original version with some clever editing to give it a modern dance "feel." Ron Dante's lead vocals come across very well in this version. Noticeably changed, or perhaps even "replaced" are Toni Wine's back-up vocals. They have been definately altered and enhanced, and I truly believe that these vocals were provided by someone else for this mix. Overall, it is good re-mixing of a timeless classic; and yes; your foot will tap and you will find yourself singing along to the lyrics. The package is nicely rounded out with the original version, and then "Sugar and Spice," a nice upbeat tune from the Archies third album "Jingle Jangle." Considered a MUST for the serious Archies collector.

4.0 out of 5 stars So Sweet, Brush your teeth after hearing this., April 24, 2001

It's a great 1987 remix, the only drawback being that the music is in mono and the background singing is in stereo. But with this single, you really get to hear how some individual tracks sound, such as the basslines.

Also, I'm sure that's not Toni Wine doing the add-on backgrounds. You can add this collection to your "Sugar Sugar" mixes that no doubt includes the CD "The Very Best of The Archies" with two 1999 very updated remixes of this rock classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Greatest hit!, March 20, 2003

This review is from: Sugar, Sugar (Audio CD)
I always loved Archie comics but I thought this song would be stupid. My mom used to sing it but I still didn't like it. But it's great. If you love music from the 70s or grew up on Abba, The Beatles, and the Monkees, you'll enjoy this! It topped the Billboard singles chart for 4 weeks and ended up as one of the hits of the year. It was the first time a 'cartoon' group ever topped the chart. Their success lead to their 2nd single also entering the top ten! But this remains my favourite 'Archies' hit! It's serene yet energetic. It's the perfect example of a great soft rock single! The song (especially the chorus) is very catchy, " Sugar, ah honey honey, You are my candy girl-And you've got me wanting you. Honey, ah sugar sugar. You are my candy girl. And you've got me wanting you." It's one my favourite 60s-70s hit! It has pretty much the same beat as 'Hey jude' so if u like that, check this out. It's also for Celine Dion and Shania Twain fans!

Other songs similar to sugar, sugar: Hey Jude (The Beatles), Yesterday(The Beatles), Archie's here (The Archies), I'll be there for you (Friends theme-The Remembrands), I'm a believer (The Monkees), Torn (Natalie Imbruglia), Take a chance on me (Abba), Chiquitita (Abba), Stop (Spice Girls), Falling into you (Celine Dion), and Come on over (Shania Twain)!
