The TBONE has never sounded so good,as when blown by STEVE BAXTER.This young brother from a time after mine does indeed take me back to the mid -seventies,when i could'en get enought of the "JAZZ CRUSADERS".From the first time I heard Steve's 2nd realse on "MUSIC CHOICE",I knew I had to have more, and "SUGAR" offers up so much more than taking one back to a jamming, jazzin time, Steve's blowing the way ahead showing us all we needent feel were're wasting our time and hard earned money to support"SMOOTH JAZZ" ,ITS HERE TO STAY,but call this one "HOT JAZZ" I do! This CD was the first ever order on-line by my household, know that sounds strange but I was just waiting for something so pleasureable as "SUGAR ON THE BONE",Iam sure you to will fine this GROOVE just so! .... ENJOY

SmoothJazz.com Review,
By Sandy Shore (Monterey, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sugar On The Bone (Audio CD)
Everybody involved in putting this CD out, from the musicians to the production folks must've had an amazingly positive vibe goin' on, because jazz trombonist Steve Baxter's SUGAR ON THE BONE is an outrageously awesome collection of music! Steve's roster of players is a Who's Who of contemporary jazz, including names like Randy Crawford, Wilton Felder, Michael Lington, and Everette Harp... and that's just scratching the surface. I was trying to pick favorites off this album, and basically I love everything on it. There's just not a track here that wouldn't enhance a Smooth Jazz station's playlist or get a positive reaction from listeners. Everyone who considers him/herself to be a discerning jazz aficionado will enjoy having this one in their library, with its tasty variety of textures and rhythms. Steve Baxter's SUGAR ON THE BONE is sweet, sweet music to my ears. It will be to yours, too! ~Scott O'Brien
