5.0 out of 5 stars The better splat mat
If you're trying to decide the one made by mimi the sardine or this one made by sugar booger, I would highly recommend this one. The mimi one is too thin while this one is substantial. The mimi one is rectangular while this one is square, but they are essentially the same size. The mimi one probably only gets sold because buying online, you can't really see what it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't wash well
The mat is super cute and has a good weight so it doesn't move around much on its own. We have wood floors in our kitchen (I know, weird!), so we wanted this to protect the floors from our food-flinging toddler.

The care instructions say you can wash it in a washing machine and hang to dry, but DON'T do it! The coating and the cloth backing have separated...

5.0 out of 5 stars The better splat mat, March 15, 2010

If you're trying to decide the one made by mimi the sardine or this one made by sugar booger, I would highly recommend this one. The mimi one is too thin while this one is substantial. The mimi one is rectangular while this one is square, but they are essentially the same size. The mimi one probably only gets sold because buying online, you can't really see what it will look like. It looks like someone just cut a piece of fabric with no finished edging. This one by sugar booger has a finished edging and is heavy enough that it will not roll. I wish someone had compared the two for me so that I would not have wasted money on the mimi one. This one by sugar booger is totally worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't wash well, August 23, 2010

The mat is super cute and has a good weight so it doesn't move around much on its own. We have wood floors in our kitchen (I know, weird!), so we wanted this to protect the floors from our food-flinging toddler.

The care instructions say you can wash it in a washing machine and hang to dry, but DON'T do it! The coating and the cloth backing have separated in places all over the mat, so the coating appears to be all bubbly, and it looks really cheap. The mat won't lay flat anymore, and has a tendency to curl along the edges. I was hoping this would be with us for years and we'd use it under a craft table down the road, but I doubt it will last that long.

It's also not especially "jumbo."

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, August 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Upon ordering I knew this would take a few months before I would get it but because I was at the point of having to replace the generic splat mat (the kind you find at the baby are us store) for the 3rd time I was willing to wait and invest a little more money into something thicker, durable, washable and overall nicer.

The mat arrived much sooner than promised and it's 100 times better quality than the generic mats. Since it's not thin and massive in size I can easily take a disinfectant wipe to the mat and clean it off quickly without having to deal with the wrinkles and static of the thinner mats. We've taken this to my in law's house where we were able to clean up after my daughter super quick and without any guilt of avocado stains on the rug. (bonus) I've also used this as a drawing mat while at my IL's and again the fact that it keeps my daughter busy and their carpets clean makes this the best product E.V.E.R.!!!

The travel bag is also really handy and a total bonus to an already great product. I love the colors and the pattern to the ladybug mat, it blends nicely under the highchair without making our kitchen look like a daycare. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Quality has gone down on this item, September 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I recently purchased my second jumbo floor mat by Sugar Booger. My first one was a baby shower gift and I loved it. The quality was amazing and it was used daily under our kids table. After a few years, it needed to be replaced from so much wear and tear. I was excited to get my new mat, and had always highly recommended this product to moms. I was sooo disappointed to see that the quality had decreased on this item. It is a much thinner material that is just awful under our kids table. It is always bunching up and just isn't of the quality as our first mat from several years ago. I wish I could return this!! I hope Sugar Booger rethinks this new CHEAPER design. It is not an item I would recommend. Please bring back the old QUALITY design you used to make.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great mat, but made of PVC. Thumbs down, February 26, 2011
By
NFresh (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
Mat is cool, well designed and functional - super cute graphics that my son loved, but it seemed toxic-y and I couldn't seem to find what it was made of of the package or outer tag. So I emailed the company, asking if it was PVC and wanted to know about the fabric. They said it was "non toxic" and "lead free" according to US and Canada standards. She didn't mention PVC specifically so assumed was fine. Only today I noticed a smaller tag, listing that it is in fact 18% PVC. Company really isn't transparent about this - and while some parents might not mind the PVC content, I certainly prefer to avoid PVC for obvious reasons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Floor Mat, May 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The mat is fantastic but would be greatly improved if it were a bit larger. It only extends about a foot beyond the base of my son's high chair which is not enough to catch a fair amount of what he drops from above.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced and Thin, November 23, 2010

I was surprised how thin this thing was. It's very cute, but has about the same consistency as a cheap kid's tablecloth; as another reviewer mentioned, it really bunches up underfoot. I was expecting something at least twice as thick that would stay put to the floor with its own weight and thickness. Honestly, I'm guessing you could probably find a cheap plastic tablecloth with the same functionality, if not as cute, for about about a third of the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and efficient, October 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This beautiful product is quite efficient at keeping the floor clean. We have carpet in our dining room and this works well to keep the food off the floor. It is easy to clean and it is thick enough that it remains in place. We also love the design and matches well with our furniture.

3.0 out of 5 stars I guess I don't get it, July 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I find this mat harder to clean than the kitchen floor when my daughter makes a mess in her high chair. You need to clean it and dry it and then fold it up, where with the kitchen floor, I can just wipe whatever it is up and that is that. I guess if you have carpet in your dining area this is useful? Or want to feed the food they threw on the floor to the baby after you pick it up and put it back on the tray? I guess I will keep it for when we tackle art projects. The print is super cute, that is for sure. But it is basically just a table cloth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it & highly recommend it, June 13, 2010

This review is from: Sugar Booger "Prehistoric Pals" Feeding Collection Jumbo Floor Mat (Baby Product)
My little man is a REALLY messy eater and this is almost like a canvas mat with a thick plastic coating. I thought it was great for clean up under the high chair with its size. Seems to be a square yard in size. I only hand wash with soap & water then hang dry once a week, other that usually just shake out or rinse off as needed. Doesn't get smelly, which is really nice. The best test of it's strength came when a heavy bottom glass broke on it and barely nicked the plastic covering. All of the glass shards stayed on the mat! Great product and would highly recommend to everyone. Already did to my friends!
