Fruit ripens in mid to late August. Cold hardy to U.S.D.A. Zone 7. Shipped potted in its original and container. Sugar pear is medium to small, round to bell shaped with smooth skin a yellow-brown suffused with russet red. Flesh is creamy white with good textured flesh, very sweet flavor, the fruit good for preserving. The tree's growth is narrower than most pears allowing it to fit in smaller yards. Good for mild winter areas as well as cold areas. Will fruit heavier with more chilling. The Sugar Pear is self-fertile in arid West. Requires 300 hours of chill below 45 degrees.
