I can't see any of the recipes in the preview: does the author use sugar, salt, or oil judiciously? I try to avoid anything with more than 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp salt, or 1 tbl oil.

Then make adjustments...I follow a printed recipe only once...and make my personal adjustments from there.
