I first was exposed to Grandpa Elliot through the Playing for Change DVD/CD. I searched all over the Internet and could not find any recordings of his music other than some user-generated videos of him playing on the streets of New Orleans. When I saw that he now has a CD out I was extremely excited to hear it.

Sugar Sweet is a bit on the short side, clocking in with nine songs. I was a bit disappointed that more songs were not included, particularly "Amazing Grace," a song in which I have heard him do incredible renditions. That being said, what is included on the CD is very good. The album has a soul/blues feel to it, with Grandpa doing plenty of solos on the harmonica during songs. My favorite track is the gospel song "This Little Light of Mine." Grandpa's voice is perfect for this song.

I hope that we see more CDs from Grandpa Elliott in the future. He is a true American treasure.

I too was first exposed to Grandpa Elliot through Playing For Change and YouTube. His deep, rich voice is so powerful yet still comes across as silky smooth! I wish the album was longer because I could listen to this talented artist all day long. He truly has music in his soul and it'll be very obvious to anyone who listens to this album for even a few minutes.

I love Grandpa's musicality, the songs, and the Playing for Change venture. The three combine to create much enjoyment and positive feeling.

What a joy to find Grandpa Elliott following up on "Playing for change" This is music that brings a smile to your face and a tapping to your toe. Love the music and hope more will follow. Grandpa Elliott is a true treasure.

This old timer can sing. He's been doing it for years and it's obvious when you hear his voice moan on this CD. Recommended highly for those who enjoy their music raw... filled with passion and soul. He knows how to remake a song and make it his own. The time for Grandpa Elliot is now and hopefully the whole world will realize this and buy this powerful CD.

I love this album and would suggest this to anyone, his voice is so captivating and love listening to it. I found out about him from this video, [...] and would strongly suggest watching it, many of their other videos have him in them, so check them out also.

One of the best voices of today. When you close your eyes Grandpa can just about take you anywhere you want.

If you like New Orleans style blues/rock/folk singing accompanied by harmonica and other band instruments and singing you will like this CD

Track 8 is awesome.

A great and well deserved recording for one of the lesser known entertainers from Nawlins. Have seen the video Playing for Change with Grandpa Elliot but alas failed to see him in person when I was in Nawlins. To see him perform is to enjoy him more.
