The mat is super cute and has a good weight so it doesn't move around much on its own. We have wood floors in our kitchen (I know, weird!), so we wanted this to protect the floors from our food-flinging toddler.

The care instructions say you can wash it in a washing machine and hang to dry, but DON'T do it! The coating and the cloth backing have separated in places all over the mat, so the coating appears to be all bubbly, and it looks really cheap. The mat won't lay flat anymore, and has a tendency to curl along the edges. I was hoping this would be with us for years and we'd use it under a craft table down the road, but I doubt it will last that long.

It's also not especially "jumbo."

I bought a few of these splat mats by SugarBooger because I wanted something under my son's high chair that was quality material. I also wanted a few around the house because he was potty training, and it helped minimize the messes. I think the price of $24-$30 is a bit high, but I guess that's the price of something really good. I don't know if they make table cloths like they used to when I was kid, but these splat mats remind me of that: the vinyl top with cotton underside. If your parents or older relatives have those type of table clothes/picnic clothes laying around, that would be a cheaper and similar alternative to these. But of course, these mats have prettier designs and come with a case.

I recently purchased my second jumbo floor mat by Sugar Booger. My first one was a baby shower gift and I loved it. The quality was amazing and it was used daily under our kids table. After a few years, it needed to be replaced from so much wear and tear. I was excited to get my new mat, and had always highly recommended this product to moms. I was sooo disappointed to see that the quality had decreased on this item. It is a much thinner material that is just awful under our kids table. It is always bunching up and just isn't of the quality as our first mat from several years ago. I wish I could return this!! I hope Sugar Booger rethinks this new CHEAPER design. It is not an item I would recommend. Please bring back the old QUALITY design you used to make.

Mat is cool, well designed and functional - super cute graphics that my son loved, but it seemed toxic-y and I couldn't seem to find what it was made of of the package or outer tag. So I emailed the company, asking if it was PVC and wanted to know about the fabric. They said it was "non toxic" and "lead free" according to US and Canada standards. She didn't mention PVC specifically so assumed was fine. Only today I noticed a smaller tag, listing that it is in fact 18% PVC. Company really isn't transparent about this - and while some parents might not mind the PVC content, I certainly prefer to avoid PVC for obvious reasons.

This is a good product and does its job. It's quite expensive for what its used for.... but I read other reviews for similar products that are quite cheap and everyone regretted buying them. So I went with the more expensive mat.

Besides the price, my only complaint is that I thought this would be rolled up when shipped. Instead, it is folded many times to make a small square. The creases never lay flat and the mat does not look nice on the floor under a highchair. I just rearranged the chair so that the mat is in the corner of the room and mostly out of sight. Otherwise, it would create quite the tripping hazard in my house.

You do get a bag for travel, but I'll never use it for that. Overall, it does its job, but its too much money and the way its shipped should be more efficient.

This is not washable and it has PVC. I ordered them because other sites states it is PVC free and washable! Come to find out, it's not washable (states it directly on the care label) and it's not PVC free! It contains 18% PVC. Although I think the designs are cute, I am upset the products do not do what it states.

I ordered this mat because it was cute and received good reviews. I intended to put it under a plastic picnic table in my kitchen. First, the mat is very thin and slippery, so the table would slide on the mat just as it would my tile floor. Secondly, because it was folded up, it was bent throughout the mat, making it look cheap. I primarily returned this, because I think the mat is worth $10 in construction, not the $30 for which it is priced. It would maybe just fit under a high chair, but if your kid throws food, it would be of no help. I went back to using my foam block mat, which prevents sliding. Not worth the price.

It took almost 6 weeks to get this (although I knew that ahead of time), but so far is definitely worth the wait. My little boy spills a lot with eating, and I used to mop my floor constantly. With this, my mess clean up time is much better. It's strong, durable, and the right size, and the other day I litterally just had to hang it outside and hose it off to clean it up. Comes in a nice pouch, not a strong plastic odor with it.

There are two versions of this mat--one (presumably the older one) which does not contain PVC, and another which does--and is coated with 18% PVC. (As many of you know, PVC is considered the most toxic and harmful plastic out there for kiddos, as it is a potent ED/endocrine/hormone disruptor, that continues to off-gas and be absorbed through the skin and lungs through touch and breathing indefinitely, long after the odor has dissipated.) I ordered one from Amazon with a "PVC-free" claim in the listing (it is green with the alphabet, with red letters and animals on it), and it says it is coated with "Polyester/Polyethelene" and had no odor. I ordered another one, and this one says that it is "18% PVC, phthalate-free," and had an odor. I was extremely disappointed that A.) They would falsely advertise/mislead buyers by not being completely transparent and/or keeping up old listings and B.) that they would use this harmful plastic (still harmful, even without the phthalates--although still better than regular PVC/vinyl) which is hazardous to children (and everyone else). So, order at your own risk. Sugar Booger--please go back to making the completely PVC-free mats. It DOES matter to your customers. I will be returning the second one.

Very happy with this mat. I almost bought another for half the price but heeded the reviews saying they were thin and flimsy. This one is definitely not. Very thick and seems very durable. It is like a laminated thick canvas, and the design is just as it appears online...gender neutral too which is a plus. The addition of a pouch was just icing on the cake and will make it easy to transport it to other's houses or for a picnic. Very happy with this purchase.
