This is definitely for diehard Sugarcubes fans. But I feel that even a casual Sugarcubes listener would enjoy this concert DVD. It's not perfect, it's obviously sketchy (it was made in the 80's, so there are some cheese factors with the graphics), and the song list is misleading (there are really 20 songs instead of 21!). But with the raw energy of the performances and the personal and quirky interviews between each band member, this is definitely worth it. Even though the Sugarcubes' career was short lived, you can tell from this concert DVD that they were at their peak, unique, and originals of their time. What I loved the most was the interviews, each one conveyed the idiosyncratic and discrete personalities of these crazy Icelanders. It was also neat in how they added in some Icelandic tales and culture tid bits within the interviews. The performances are great most of all. Some may be annoyed by Einar, he shouts more often than he does in the albums, but somehow there's something likeable about it alongside with Bjork's raw and energetic pipes. I have to admit though, this whole DVD took awhile for me to get used to. But with just two viewings I've grown to love it. As much as I loved it though, at times it makes me feel sad to think how this band with so much potential all too quickly broke apart. But I guess it was meant to be (after all, Bjork was the star!). Highly recommend this DVD and The Sugarcubes Music Videos DVD to diehard fans of Bjork.
