IT WAS A GOOD ALBUM, no matter what these haters say!, January 8, 2000
This review is from: Suge Knight Presents: Chronic 2000 (Audio CD)
Many people talked bad about this album cause they expected it to be good as the original Chronic who is deffinetly one of the best rap albums ever. Well, it's not as outstanding as the original but I think with what Death Row have today they came out with a tight a#$ album. There are two main problems:
1.There are two pretty annoying wanna-be artists on the album. They are named The Realest and Top Dogg. Those two, without any shame or respect to themselves and the industry, are doing their best to sound like rap legends 2Pac and Snoop Doggy Dogg. They are both all over the album and they copy Pac and Snoop in every possible way: both lyrically and the way they rap. It's annoying, Death Row still has enough talent to get along instead of bringing fake stars to their label.
2.Since it's a double CD album it suffers from the double-CD syndrom which means that there are a few filler songs. Songs who are pretty weak and are there just to fill the playing time.
Still there're many many GREAT songs on the album. About 18 of them. On the good songs everything is just perfect as only Death ROw knows - tight gangsta production and real quality rappers. Artists who shine on the album are : The one and only 2Pac on two songs, Bay Area rapper Mac Shawn who's now signed with Death Row, Swoop G who also appeared on Murder was the case, VK- a new female rapper who isa really tight, Daz, Kurupt, Soopafly, Ant Banks, Michel'le and many more.
It's a very good album and much better than many of the albums that come out these days. I admit there are about 5 or 6 tracks not worth listening to. Just don't listen to them, listen to all the rest. The rest are just AWSOME and sound like Death Row at their best, when they were the greatest label in Rap music.

Death Row, December 13, 1999
This review is from: Suge Knight Presents: Chronic 2000 (Audio CD)
I thought the Chronic 2000 album was O.K. I just thought they were reaching for past glory. The beats were O.K. but I think it was disrespectful for Death Row to go and get a fake Tupac. In order to be the Realest, you have to be real, an original. The songs I did like was the one with Mac Shawn, and the songs with the REALEST Tupac you are going to find, Tupac Shakur. I'm not trying to be a hater or nothing, I understand that people got to make their money but don't sell your soul. People should learn to honor the dead and quit biting fools styles, voices, and image. The album was cool, Swoop G spit some heat. I like VK she seemed to be the only original. She has skills that can be developed, she is a dope MC. But the Realest, Top Dogg, and Milkbone need to hang up your mic cords. I also like Hey Beautiful Lady with Danny Boy and K-Ci and the Dogg Pound songs. As for the title the Chronic 2000 Still Smokin, it was a low blow trying to take that man's album name but he blew ya doors off with 2001. They should have named this one Bammer 2000 Still Chokin' Death Row is back, but yall need some new artists. Most of these cats suck. Sincerely The 9-1-Sickest

Death Row Fell Off!, April 21, 2000
This review is from: Suge Knight Presents: Chronic 2000 (Audio CD)
anyone who gave this cd more than a couple of stars must beworking for them or something, this CD is pretty weak. The Realestand Top Dogg trying to sound like other people, nothing is funnier than the two of them on the song "They Wanna Be Like Us" heh. No one wants to be a fake tupac or a fake snoop dogg like these guys.
