This review is from: Suggestions for Thought by Florence Nightingale: Selections and Commentaries (Studies in Health, Illness, and Caregiving) (Paperback)
Florence Nightingale is the cornerstone of modern medicine and hospital care. She is one of the greatest heroes in the history of the world, and yet, when her name is mentioned it seems to be used in a somewhat disparaging way as to refer to someone who idealistically wants to martyr herself to save the world. Too bad. She was no martyr. She was tough and forceful and got things done by doing, not by sacrificing.
