A most complete discussion of Hermetic theory & practice!, July 9, 1998
This review is from: A Suggestive Inquiry into the Hermetic Mystery (Hardcover)
Mary Anne Atwood's, 'A Suggestive Inquiry Into Hermetic Mystery' is the only text any Sincere, Earnest, and Intelligent aspirant to Adeptship in Hermetic Theory and Practice needs! Granted, it conceals as much as it reveals, but that is par for the course. Read and re-read the excellent introduction by Mr. Wilmhurst, it is a gem. Do the same with the 'Table-talk' included as an appendix. Then and only then should you proceed to the very recondite text. Ms. Atwood is a most able guide through the intricate labyrinth that is Hermeticism.

NeoPlatonic Magnum Opus of the 19th Century!, October 11, 2004
This review is from: A Suggestive Inquiry into the Hermetic Mystery (Hardcover)
The scope of this text is stunning! From ancient mythology thru middle-ages and into modern times, Ms. Atwood has recapitulated and amalgamated the most lofty and intelligent book on metaphysics in english, possibly of all time. It will require MANY readings, over MANY years as the abstruse idea unfolds and develops within your mind/spirit. Pearls are NOT delivered unto swine, but priceless gems of wisdom ARE delivered unto the respectful pupil by this VERY wonderful book. Logodox, FRC >9th 33YR, PaxNous.

A Suggestive Inquiry, February 18, 2010
This review is from: A Suggestive Inquiry into the Hermetic Mystery (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book on Hermetics and the science of Hermetics Alchemy.
The writer had a vast knowledge of her subject and was years ahead of her time. It is hard to believe that she was born before Freud .
Her relationship with her Father helped to shape her thinking and after his death she felt a great part of her had died too I am sure. He was Instrumental in her writing this book and trusted her not to divulge too much of the Hermetic Mystery.
Upon Publication he realized that she had share too much and they promptly tried to buy up all of the copies and burnt them in the garden. This goes to show how important a work on Hermetics this truely is.
I find it hard to believe that in our modern age we think we know everything. This just goes to show how much was truely known by those before us and we would do well to take note.
