Five young British lads with a fondness for all things heavy. Influences include Norma Jean, The Red Chord, and other American metalcore acts. This is their 2008 sophomore album, filled with massive riffs, erratic time signatures, immense vocals, and shredding solos. A perfect soundtrack to a life spent on the edge.

If you are one of the many people like my self who hated bring me the horizon, you need to give this cd a listen. When I heard the tracks of off count your blessings, i hated its generic wanna be death metal sound. This cd is completely different. The style is much different and much better.

The Comedown: 4.5/5-One of the best tracks on the whole cd, very catchy and a good introduction to their new style.

Chelsea Smile: 3.5/5-Ok, a little generic sounding but cool riffs.

If It Was Written In Blood: 2/5-Pretty cool synthesized intro but very boring for the most part.

Death Breath: 4.5/5-My second favorite of the whole cd. Fantastic riffs and intense vocals.

Football Season Is Over: 4.5/5-Short, brutal, and funny. it has a great chorus part "PARTY TILL YOU PASS OUT, DRINK TILL YOUR DEAD. DANCE ALL NIGHT TIL YOU CAN'T FEEL YOUR LEGS."

Sleep With One Eye Open: 4.5/5-Very, very, heavy. One of the best tracks.

Diamonds Aren't Forever: 4.5/5-A heavy catchy track which delivers metal core at it's finest.

The Sadness Will Never End: 4/5-A heavy original sound with SUNG vocals, something bring me the horizon rarely has.

No Need For Instructions, I've Read About Girls Like You On The Back Of Toilet Doors: 4/5-Very short but has an interesting jazz intro, then an insane breakdown into pure insanity, the heaviest track on the album.

Suicide Season: 5/5-THE BEST TRACK on the whole album, and the best BMTH song ever. It goes in and out from melodic to heavy and has very emotional lyrics showing Sykes's best writing talent.

So again, if you used to hate them forget that count your blessings crap and BUY this. It's hard to believe that the same awful band who played "Pray For Plagues" created this cd. Bring Me The Horizon have matured greatly and WILL get better.

I know Bring Me The Horizon are one of those bands that are popular to dislike and that a great many internet users have problems with the band's front-man Oli Sykes. Regardless, I came to the band with a relativly open mind assured that they would be the type of band that I'd like because I enjoy Hatebreed style bands, At The Drive In style bands and the Nine Inch Nails style electro moments.
This turned out to be a great suggestion, as Suicide Season has rarely left my stereo since I got it. Talented musicians writing interesting and inventive songs, what more could anybody expect or even want?
The album was definitely a grower and on repeat listens you get all the little touches, all the one off riffs will stick in your head and the gang chant vocals will shift in your opinion from something that is a bit cheesy and out of place to something to genuinely look forward to.High pitched vocals over drumming that uses the Crash Cymbal like a hi-hat and a lot of hardcore style brakedowns, is a pretty accurate way to describe every song on this record, with a few songs containing Death Growls and a few containing electro drums and effects to add a little variety.
Stand out tracks contain the lyrically intense `Suicide Season,' which is eight plus minutes long and mixes the heavier stuff with the electro side and the very heavy and very catchy `Diamonds Aren't Forever,' which contains so many sing along moments in its short duration it feels like half an albums worth of choruses.
Fair enough, the band may have inspired your dislike for the way the have acted, dressed or what they have said but just give this album an honest, unprejudiced listen and you will find a genuinely great modern heavy album.

I can completely understand why fans of metal or bring me the horizon's old sound could be disappointed by this record. BUT i will say im a fan of the older stuff but definatly in love with this record. i truely believe BMTH took a step up further from any band within the 'scene' that feeds off cliques. where everyone tends to be doing the same thing, writing the same words, following the same trends - BMTH has done something completely off the map. i truely think think they just took all diffrent forms of punk and heavier music that influnced them, smashed it all together, and made Suicide Season.

obviously oli's vocals have taken a toll. i actually saw them live last night and he definatly doesn't scream like he used to, even when playing some songs from "count your blessings", he just can't seem to do those highs anymore. which makes sense cuz those are brutal. but i think his newer vocals with some highs mixed in at times works. and as much as i love every track off of CYB, they did sound like just you're average metal band instrumentally. with this record i think they took it up a notch, but in a slightly diffrent direction.

for what the misfits did for punk rock way back when, i think BMTH has done for heavy music. its artistic, creative, innovative, and has in my opinion one of the sickest [like good sick] album covers ever. and oli's writing skills definatly stand out, on some tracks more then others, particularly the title track. you can't help but feel for him. the emotion that was put into the lyrics and everything instrumentally and vocally about that soung is just outstanding.
