Book Description

May 6, 2003
In the wake of ‘9/11’, suicide bombers still believe fervently that they will enter Paradise by ending their Earthly lives and killing ‘infidels’. The story outlines the young life of a member of a Hamas Battle Cell. It precisely details the deeply religious and historical rationale for his creed, going back to the time of the infamous hashish-driven ‘Assassins’ of early Islam, and leading him eventually to the target in the United States that is his objective. Paralleling the sinister activities of the terrorists, is a world famous Israeli Professor of History and Politics who travels to the U.S. where he becomes the unwitting focus of interest for the Battle Cell. Linked to the Professor are his old friend and antagonist, the Prime Minister of Israel, members of the Mosad, Israeli students in the U.S., and the intrepid investigators of the FBI. Through the Professor, and the other protagonists, the roots of the Israeli-Arab impasse, and the personal agonies on both sides of a tragic divide, are examined. The story takes on aspects of a thriller as suspicions mount, and law enforcement agencies in America begin to zero in on the cell. The conclusion, like the turmoil in the Middle East, leaves the world gasping.

From the Author

Author Now in Disguise

The author of Suicide String now travels in disguise for security reasons. Burt Keimach's face does not appear on the Internet and will be blocked out on TV. On radio, his voice will be changed. When traveling he never stays in the same place twice, and he frequently changes cars. The sensitive nature of Suicide String, which is based on personal knowledge, has prompted concerns for his safety. Regrettably there can be no public book signings

5.0 out of 5 stars foresees major questions, July 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Suicide String (Paperback)
Suicide String seems to foresee so much of what is happening now. The questions being asked by our government about America's security services, especially concerning the FBI and the CIA, are chilling in the least. Keimach anticipated all that in his novel, which is about a serious matter -- terrorism that rears its ugly head everywhere. Terror has been around for a long time,so there is nothing new in that. What is new, for most readers anyway, is how this latest wave of suicidal destruction came about. He tells the story well, and leaves out little of the horror. If you're into gory details, there's enough of that too. This book is an important statement and merits a close reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars History, thriller, and great yarn all in one, July 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Suicide String (Paperback)
First there was Oklahoma. Then there was 9/11. I wondered if all terrorists were the same. Although their goals and the base for their misconceptions may be different, the idea of terror for its own sake weaves a powerful argument. Of course terrorism is highly complex and there is no simple answer, but Suicide String brings to light some of the rationale behind the present-day violence. Precisely because the mayhem is so diverse and convoluted, as Keimach suggests in his well written novel, the solutions are just as diverse and difficult.
But the theme that vigilance also reaps a reward is yet another important solution. It's a good read. There's a believable plot with characters who bring home a horrible but vital message in today's post 9/11 completely changed world.
