Here's a book with a different take on vampires. No fangs here. Elisa is given a new life when she tries to take her own. She's now a half-vampire and thrown into a world of deception and tight lipped vampires. While trying to learn all that she can about the vampire, she'll meet several different vampires. But who can she trust? She'll also meet a very powerful mage and his demon assistant, Smith.

I have to say Smith is my favorite character. He's got a bit of humor to him and I enjoy when he's been called by Elisa. I wasn't sure of this book at first, but as soon as Smith was introduced I was hooked. I look forward to more books in this series.

There is only one drawback to this book; the editor did a lousy job. It's not so bad you can't read the book, but it should have been edited much better. I still recommend the book to those who love the vampire.

It was a dark and stormy night, and my army of demonic minions settled in for a reading of "Suicide Surprise". I had barely finished the first chapter, when they all started to cry "We want more!". One in particular whined bitterly "It is not evil enough!!", while another goblin spat "Not enough mistakes! I want to hear ghastly gaps in the plot, things that don't make sense, and more punctuation... so as to really build up suspense!!!". You see, evil creatures of the dark are prone to nastiness; it is easy for them. My minions tend to judge all writing by 6th Century Medieval English standards (which vary greatly by region); whereas we would not even consider it English by our modern American, bastardized standards. I forgave them for their anachronistic outbursts and continued to read... for enjoyment.
Read this book if you want a book that was written without commercial commission, contains raw creativity, and was so personal to the author that she did not even want anyone else proof-reading it. Take it from someone who supports freedom of expression, especially from the underworld.

First let me say I really liked this book but will not be buying the next chapters as the author's use of the F. instead of the actual curse word drove me crazy. I would much rather see the word spelled out than this abbrevation which by the end had me screaming in frustration as I saw it coming and dreaded reading it.

This is a good first try for a non-professional writer. I read this one and immediately purchased the sequel- now I have to wait for the third one to come out, and I don't want to wait. The story is very well written, with characters that draw you in easily. My only suggestion for the author would be to get a good proof-reader. There was one continuity error in this book, but it will not be caught by most readers. There are many typographical errors, and a few grammatical errors- most do not detract from the story, but they do require you to slow down on your reading speed to piece together what the author actually meant to say.

All in all, I highly recommend this book, and the sequel is just as good.

It apparently was written by an inexperienced author. Good for a Junior High School contest but cannot believe it was published.
