Product Description

Where the guitars twist and recoil against one another as they mate in sinuous beauty. When lyrics penetrate your heart, not to create a feeling of longing but to make it long to simply feel... This is the melodic craft of The Autumns.

About the Artist

It's been six years. Back then, it was Manchester. "We loved those bands: The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Trash Can Sinatras, etc. We saw eye to eye on all that, and that1s how things got rolling." The influence of such Brit stalwarts is easily detected in the charming early recordings of a budding, nascent Autumns. Six years later, though, even the believers are shocked. What started as a melodically gifted young pop group has evolved into one of Los Angeles most respected, revered, and emulated musical forces.

Just to correct what the previous reviewer stated, none of the Autumns were ever in the Ocean Blue or Riverside. 'Apple' does bear a slight resemblance to the jangly pop of the Ocean Blue, but that's about the only comparison possible between the bands. But the EP is brilliant and should be picked up.

Creating environments with natural feedback through multiple guitars and amplifiers this band creates whilry swirly music, which somehow maitains enough pop status to be called Space Pop. The "noise" is emotionally driven and brings you to an experience unlike any other I have experienced. Apple is one of my favorite songs by the band; however, it's far more straight forward than most of their works. The other songs on this CD are often dark and filled with foggy, heavy rooms or should I say parks. The lyrics are no less adictive, meaning and spirtual thoughts surround them.
The band feels like it has a large UK influence, along with influences such as The Cocteu Twin, Nick Drake, and The Smiths. This is a rare find for music lovers, an a must listen. See them live, playing often in their hometown of Los Angels.

This EP is a short, but very sweet introduction to the melancholy dream-pop sounds of the Autumns. The band fits nicely between the likes of Slowdive, Lift to Experience, and the Cocteau Twins. Being one of their first releases and printed on a now defunct record label, snatch this one up before it's gone. When the Autumns finally get their chance and hit, they'll hit big. Don't miss out.
