How about this, people...when you write a review that talks about how you slept freezing cold using this sleeping bag in 25-30 degree weather, how about you let the rest of us know whether you were sleeping in the open? or using a tent? a bivy? a sleeping pad or not? etc., etc., etc. How are the rest of us supposed to make an informed decision based off of complaints with no details?! I was unsure about purchasing this bag based on some of your reviews, but I got it off of craigslist for a really great deal. I have taken it backpacking, I frequently use it with a Thermarest Trail Scout pad and a Backside T-7 bivy tent, and it has performed admirably. I have been very comfortable in temps down to about 10 degrees with it (haven't used it in colder temps yet--I think I would be all right to go a little cooler). But in combining it with a good quality pad and tent, you'll be just fine. Oh, I also wear long wicking underwear and clean, dry socks when in the bag. Also, FYI I am 6'3" and 225 lbs, and the bag fits snugly, but comfortably for me. Anyway, do these things, and with this bag you'll be in good shape.

I had ordered this sleeping bag, based on the fact I had gotten my son the smaller/compact Suisse Sport bag and it worked real well for him. This one, is equally well-made and it fits me better than the compact one (I can fit in it, but I look like Dracula in his coffin). The larger one here, I actually have some wiggle room. If I had any complaint about it at all, I wish the hood drawstring closed further down. It seems the material bunches up before it can fully cinch shut.

For those wondering if they'll fit, I'm 5'10" and 230 lbs, with a 46" chest. I have plenty of leg room as well.

I have recently picked up backpacking again because of volunteer work with the BSA, and was looking for a 0 degree sleeping bag that would fit in my backpacking compartment which measures 12"x14"x12". I just got the sleeping bag and I must say it is better than I expect. It is very lightweight, nice color(light colors and me don't mix), big enough for my 6'5", 236lbs body, and comes with its own compression sack. Although I haven't camped with it yet, while I was testing it for size in 45 degree weather it got very warm, to the point of sweating. So I am confident it will work well. Look forward to using it soon and writing another review.

I used this bag while camping in Prescott, Arizona the first weekend in May 2010, which was unseasonably cold and windy with the overnight temperature reaching just below freezing. I had a good quality Thermarest pad under the bag inside a Kelty Riverbend 2 Webforce tent. The wind was moderate, but steady and moved through the tent. The bag performed well until the temps dropped in the early morning. At that point I could feel a moderate loss of heat from the bag around my torso as I shifted my sleeping position to my side, making me wish I'd brought my mil-surplus wool blanket. Also, I could feel the wind sometimes coming through the zipper. The drawstring on the hood area of the bag performed great, allowing me to cinch the opening down to stop all of the wind. I am 5'7" and average build, and find the width of this bag more roomy that my North Face Blue Kazoo (down), but not as warm. I will continue to use this bag, but with a cover blanket, and certainly not if I expect temps to drop below 25 F.

I used this on a camping trip in northern North Carolina where the temperature got just below freezing before dawn. I am 6'2" and fit in the bag even with my legs and feet extended. I slept on a closed-cell foam pad inside a three-person tent. I also wore thick wool socks and thermal underwear top and bottom as pajamas (no hat). I was comfortably warm up until the coldest time of the night (right before dawn). At that point, my toes were a little cold, but not uncomfortable. The next night I switched back to a below zero bag that weighs about twice as much for comparison. Comparing the two, this bag had much less stuffing, but the mummy effect of this bag and especially the chest drawstring make it so it can keep you warm at a lower temperature. It also seems like this would be a better bag when the temperature is above freezing because the below zero bag with more stuffing is too warm at temperatures of 50+.

The bag is easy to stuff into the compression sack, and is small enough to fit into the sleeping bag compartment of a 65 liter backpack when compressed. My 12 year old son also tried sleeping on it and stuffing it by himself, and this looks like it could become his bag.

Given the price, the light weight, the easy compression, and its ability to keep you warm at around freezing, I highly recommend it.

I "field tested" this sleeping bag last night in my back yard. I slept by myself in a three person tent, wearing a long sleeve t-shirt, long track suit pants and smart wool socks. I slept on top of an ALPS 1.5 inch thick self inflating matt. The temperature got down to 36 degrees and I was just fine. Once temps got down to the low 40's I went all in, completely closing the bag over my face. I'm 5'11 and weight 175 pounds. I was able to adjust my sleeping position enough to stay relatively comfortable all night. I'm not sure I'd want to go much colder than freezing without having more layers on. It says is rated for +5, which is a bit ambitious in my opinion, but it also says the optimum temp range is 20 - 40. I think that's fair and for the price, less than $40, I'm very happy with the purchase.
