3.0 out of 5 stars Good Enough
I am not a hard core camper ... maybe 2 - 3 times a year and one of those is a music festival usually. The tent is fine and big enough to satisfy me and the lady friend. Nothing fancy, the door design is kind of stupid, and the window flaps when unzipped just hang down (we used clothes pins to roll up and clasp)

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY pleased!, July 12, 2010

I bought this tent for our family camping trip, and we loved it. Easy set up, very roomy, comfortable, and waterproof. There is a thin nylon divider that can be used to separate into two rooms, but we didn't use it. We also didn't use the small mesh shelf that can be attached in the top middle of the tent to keep glasses or other small objects out of the way. The two attached side pockets inside worked fine to keep glasses, cell phones, and car keys within easy reach. We had one queen mattress, one full mattress, two small electric fans (because even at night it can be hot in Texas), 2 backpacks, and 3 duffle bags in the tent - still plenty of room to step in and out and get around. The two doors were very convenient as well. We slept one night with the rain fly off and windows and doors zipped all the way up; the mesh at the top of the tent supplied both ventalation and privacy. With the rain fly on (during light rain) we just left a little part of one door and window unzipped. We were very comfortable inside all 5 nights. This tent looks simple, but it is well-planned and constructed. Set up and pack up is very easy as well.

I bought this tent after I returned a Walmart tent($54) that did not have closable windows. This tents windows all close. The fly doesn't flap in light wind. The privacy curtain is attached with knob and loop ties not velcro. There is a storage mesh shelf at the top. My cot fit in one of the rooms, I wanted to put two cots in one room but I think there's not enough room. The door fabric felt tacky like the fly. On the box it says the tent is the same material as the fly. I am curious to see how it performs in the rain.I bought a separate duffle for the tent as I don't think it would have fit in the sack it came with. This is normal. I put the fly and curtain in the sack instead. I was thinking that to assemble the tent without walking on it I would not put the stakes in till I put the poles in. The fly has elastic with hooks to clip to the bottom ring. Much better than Walmarts tent which only had string. I posted pics of the tent under customer images.

We have only used this tent once a while ago. I am concerned the doors may leak in rain. I don't see a flap over the zipper in the pictures. If you have experience with this tent in a good rain please post. Thanks.

The tent arrived on schedule, and in time for us to set it up and get familiar with it before our Labor Day camping trip. Right out of the box the shock cord in one of the main tent poles was broken. Not a big issue, as it is easily fixed, just frustrating. After ordering a replacement shock cord on Amazon for $10, we had the pole usable.

The tent is a nice size and was actually a downgrade from my 16X10 Coleman. The 12X10 size is perfect for my two queen sized mattresses. There was about 8 inches between the two and about 2 feet of space left at the foot of the beds. Plenty of room to store bags and such. This size is also more convenient than some of the larger tents, as it will fit on standard tent pads better.

We had beautiful weather, so I can't testify to how well this tent will hold up in rain. After setting this tent up in my yard, however, I used a waterproofing spray on it, just as an extra precaution. The tent fabric and pan do seem to be quite a bit thinner than other tents I have owned, so this may be a point of concern later down the road. I would recommend using a small tarp underneath the tent.

Ventilation is awesome with the top, door, and window vents. It kept us from being stuffy, yet with all the windows and door closed it helps keep you quite cozy on those nights that it gets cooler.

The rain fly hangs low, and obstructs the front doors. I did not care for that as you have to bend down to get in and out, but it isn't a deal breaker. Also, the zippers are not well thought out, and can be frustrating when trying to get in or out of the tent in middle of the night. Unlike other tents I have owned, the door and screen zippers on the front entrance are separated, meaning you have to unzip both to get in or out.
Even with the few issues I have with this tent, it is still a decent tent for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tent, June 11, 2011

I bought this tent and love it! It is exactly what I expected. It is very well made. I wanted a tent that did not require strings to hold things down. The only stacks required on this tent are to hold down the corners and extra loops are available in the middle of all 4 sides. I had it set up in 50 mph winds and it was fine. I love that the windows can be kept open and rain does not enter if it is coming straight down. Even when it rained at a slant, the side getting the rain could still be partially opened. I really like this tent! Well made, easy to setup, big with lots of room! I would buy this again. One other thing - I am 5'3" and could easy stand in the middle of the tent. It had a pouch that could be placed at the top which I used to hang our towels when it was raining. Lots of nice things with this tent.

I recently ordered a second one of these tents to replace the original we had for about 8 years of occasional use. This tent is easy to set up for 1 person. The rain fly always has kept the tent dry during any rain we experienced, although we were never in anything too extreme. The zippers eventually went bad on the entry doors, which is why we had to replace it. If you camp a lot, I wouldn't expect the zippers to last more than a few years, if that, but like I said, with occasional use, the first one lasted about 8 years. But for an inexpensive tent, what can you expect? The best features of this tent is the excellent ventilation. You can have large screened windows on all 4 sides. Because of this feature, we actually use it now mainly as a screen house for our small RV. There is enough room for a small table and chairs inside, and you can stand up if you are less than 6 feet tall. This is a good deal in my opinion.

this is the first tent that i've bought in many years. i put it together alone so it took a little longer to assemble but the instructions were good. while camping in the national forest, i rode out a severe storm. it only leaked a tablespoon of water around the door zipper which seemed to be a bit tight. the campers near me got soaked! i don't see getting 6 people in it but 4 large men and some gear would fit. i am happy with this purchase and can't wait to get back to the wilderness!

Pros:
Nice ventilated screen top to look at sky
Attractive, nice colors
Cons:
Not enough stake loops to hold down tent
Fits 3 persons, not 6
Can only stand up in the middle, crouch everywhere else
Stakes are too small and short
Hard to zipper even after adjusting stakes
Have to crouch under the rain fly when walking thru the door
Very hard to roll up and put back in the tiny bag they supply

Read some great reviews of Swiss Gear tent...trying that next.

I recently had to replace my tent of 17 years. I researched and researched and found this tent that seemed to be perfect. Perfect match for size and style that I used to have and was looking forward to having it again. Reviews, overall were wonderful. So I placed an order. Received it and decided to set it up in the backyard per recommendations online to water-test it before field use. I didn't have to do that with my old tent from walmart. It virtually never leaked. Anyway, I did and happened to find a small hole in the floor that was caused due to the little metal pin that the poles stick onto at each corner had poked it in the floor during packaging. Never even put water on it. I requested a replacement through Amazon and they kindly sent a replacement, Next Day Air, just in time for me to leave early the next morning on the trip, with no time to set it up in advance.

I arrived at the sight and began setting up the tent, per the instructions letter for letter, only to find the poles were not the proper length (too long) and the poles cracked on one end and almost broke in the middle. It managed to stay up through the night, fortunate it was perfect weather though.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, I actually think in hindsite that their instructions were the actual problem. Most primitive campsites, which is what all Cub Scout sites pretty much are, have less than level spots to set up the tent on and I believe the problem came from following instructions and staking it down prior to assembling the poles and allowing the tent to better conform to the spot.

Also due to the strange stresses on the tent, the zipper didn't work very easily.

Even after two setbacks, I did like the tent and think that I may try one more time and change my method and not follow the instructions. Go back to the way I used to always set one up, poles first, tent stakes last.

I am a pushover I guess.

1.0 out of 5 stars tent heavier than advertised, company refuses return, August 12, 2010

This review is from: Suisse Sport 6 Person Mammoth Dome Tent 12' x 10' with divider (Sports)
While the tent may function well, it is heavier than advertised. Since weight is a critical factor for an older consumer like myself who wants to camp with a disabled young adult child, I decided to request a return from the company. The company states through Amazon that it has to pre-approve returns. The package was unopened and within deadline. I had two contacts with the company and I was told they did not accept returns of undamaged merchandise because they had such a low profit margin. If a company who advertises on the Amazon Website has a return policy that is highly restricted, that policy should be clearly stated with initial information about the product.
