5.0 out of 5 stars Suitable for Hanging Review, January 9, 2007

As usual, Margaret Maron has done a splendid job. I would like to see more mysteries featuring Judge Knott in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful stories!, April 18, 2010

Margaret Maron has a wonderful voice that these stories show as much as her Deborah Knott series shows. The stories are about relationships, and in the voice of the south. I mean the south that that includes "newcomers" as well as people who have lived through the changes brought about by the civil rights activities and laws of the late 20th century. She is an author which brings joy, and pain and self reflection as well as a good mystery!!

I'm a big fan of the Deborah Knott series, so thought I would read something else from her. I was not disappointed! Easy reads. Would make a nice gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short Mystery Pleasures, July 26, 2011
I'm not a real fan of short stories though I both read and write them. Margaret Maron's SUITABLE FOR HANGING is an outstanding collection from "The Early Retirement of Mario Colletti" to "The Dog That Didn't Bark."
She teaches the rest of us how to do it teaches the rest of us how to do it with the less than 300 words "Devil's Island."
This is a great book to have in the pocket of your easy chair to enjoy with a refreshing cup of tea.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting insights on developing characters, June 29, 2011

These early short stories from Margaret Maron are a compulsive lead, some ranging far from her character-based crime novels. Particularly intriguing is a one-page story, written as an attempt to create a short story in less than 500 words. Early Deborah Knott stories are an interesting addition to the canon of work on this character.

A small niggle - proof-reading has obviously been a bit rushed - there are too many typos (including one on the front cover!)
