Good Read,
By MEM113 "Triad NC" (advance, nc United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Suite Embrace (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed this first installment in the "Suite" series by Anita Bunkley. She has always written a 'thorough' story with well developed characters. Both Skylar and Mark are likable characters and she lets them fall in love slowly yet surely. Skylar was sweet and very cautious about people because of her past relationships with Lewis and her girlfriends. Wanted to know more about why Skylar's girlfriends left her.
Anita took her time developing the relationship b/t Mark and Skylar, thereby making it believable. Glad to learn more about the Black ski clubs and how they're growing larger and larger. I read romance novels because I like a good story with sizzling, descriptive passion. This leaves you wanting more detail on the love scenes. And it would have been more effective if bookcover 'Mark' and description of Mark were not so mis-matched.

A very SWEET EMBRACE...,
By Nayberry "ShaniReviews" (Opelika, Alabama) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Suite Embrace (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Kimani churns out another not so perfect love story. Skylar and Mark both are looking for a change in their lives when they cross each other's paths. Skylar ripe from an elevator accident and a breakup with Lewis, the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with. Mark, once an Olympic champion skier, is now spending his days giving ski lessons at Skylar's sister's ski resort. When circumstances bring them together they attract like magnets, but are determined to take their time with each other. And their embrace is sweet down to the moment, Mark's possessive mother hits town and then all hell breaks loose. Will Skylar be good enough to live up to Mark's mother's standards?
This book had some ups and downs and some parts that I just could not believe. The romance was sizzling and the deceit and treachery was enough to keep the pages turn. Anita Bunkley did a great job weaving Suite Embrace. A sweet romantic little novel,

This review is from: Suite Embrace (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
These Kimani romance novels can be a hit or miss but this one was one of the better ones. Mark and Skylar were likeable, believable characters and I enjoyed reading about their romance. The story flowed nicely and was not bogged down by too much drama. I could have used more details on their sex scenes but I guess it was nice not to have too much graphic details. Overall a nice read.

Typical,
This review is from: Suite Embrace (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book started out good but went down hill fast. Skylar and Mark were good characters but the story was ruined by the typical misunderstandings and half-truths. Mark was presented to be this man who wanted to stand on his own and not be lorded over by his mom. Skylar withheld some information about herself. When Mark finds out this minor info, he is destroyed runs away with his mommy - huh? The whole thing was dumb. They fell in love too fast and broke up too fast. And of course you can imagine how it ends. I found myself more interested in Deena and her husband. I'm glad I borrowed it.

A warm story set in the cold mountains of Colorado,
By BMAR (Northern USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Suite Embrace (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
New millionaire Skylar Webster is not ready to live the flashy life that her newly acquired money would afford her. She is still shaken up from the accident that resulted in her new found riches and the relationship that fell disastrously apart during her recovery. So when she moves to Colorado to work at her sister and brother-in-law's ski resort, she wants to live quietly and take time to let her body, mind and heart fully recover. These well-laid plans are in danger of fall aside, however, when Skylar meets Olympic medalist and new ski teacher Mark Jorgen at the resort. Mark is tired of the jet-setting life of luxury, fun and women that he lived as a famous Olympian. He is ready to forge a life that will bring him joy and he wants to share that with "Ms. Right". Shortly after meeting her, he thinks Skylar may be the one. Their burgeoning friendship and potential romance is impact by both of their pasts, Skylar's trying to come to grips with all she's been through and Mark continuing fight to live life independently of his meddling Mom who was his former manager and is determined to maintain her hold and control over Mark's future and marketability.
Anita Buckley crafts an interesting and intriguing tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. I love Mark and Skylar's story and look forward to future installments of the Suite series. |
