Book Description

June 17, 2005
Dramatic and lyrical by turns, this work displays Rachmaninoff's keyboard characteristics: intense Russian flavor, rich and bold sonorities, compelling rhythmic drive, and brilliant virtuosity. From its somber "Introduction" and lively and lyrical "Waltz" to the languid, melodic "Romanza" and vibrant "Tarantella," the piece is distinctly Rachmaninoff. Perfect for duets, this edition includes 2 complete copies of the work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful package, May 9, 2008

This review is from: Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos, Op. 17 (Paperback)
First and foremost I must say that the best part about this score is that it comes complete with two parts. Many four-hand/two-piano music I purchase must be purchased in double because it comes as just one part. I therefore end up spending twice as much as I'd like to spend on the music in the first place. This edition of the Rachmaninoff 2nd Suite is excellently priced and presents the score in a clear and efficient fashion. At times the notes can become a little crammed, making it slightly difficult to read (hence my rating falling one star short of perfect), but this is not a piece for sight-reading. Once the notes are learned it shouldn't matter if you can read specifics on the page or not. Wonderful edition and cheap price---strong consider if you're looking for a version of this suite.
