Everyone's been saying that this book is boring and hard to understand. However, anyone with a basic knowledge of French should be able to follow the plot and understand the humor. Moreover, if you use the English stage directions, you have another resource. This book is an amazing introduction to French and worthwhile reading. As a French II student, I feel that any French student who wants to excel should read this.

This is an excellent book for those who are at an intermediate level of FRENCH. It holds your interest (it's a mystery book) while you learn!

I read this book as a French IV student last year and enjoyed it immensely. It helps to hear French in a conversational style rather than in a bland textbook, and the story wasn't too bad either. Also, the British narrator is unintentionally hilarious.

I have used Suivez La Piste off and on over the past 15 years or so. My French III-IV students love it. They say the lines out loud in pairs or small groups. It gives them a break from the main textbook while allowing them a chance to read aloud in French. The story line is interesting, the tape program adds some (with English accented narration) reality. It works.

First of all, it doesn't hold your interest, second, it's actually rather difficult to comprehend and understand even though it should be rather simple for someone in 4th level french.
