UNBELIEVABLE REPRESENTATION OF TURKISH AND OTTOMAN HISTORY,
By Duran Inci (Miami, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Suleyman the Magnificent (Documentary) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is so far the best representation of Ottoman and Turkish History and Art. It's basically about The Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Genre and the golden age of Ottoman Empire. A must see for all Turkish people, and people who are interested in Mid Evil Times and relations (developments) between Ottoman Empire and The whole Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Good overview of Sultan Suleyman,

This review is from: Suleyman the Magnificent (Documentary) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Combining a chronicle of Suleyman's life with visual portraits of palaces and mosques, this program does an excellent job of explaining the legend of Suleyman. Among the sites shown are the great Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the mausoleum built for Suleyman and his favorite concubine, Roxelana.
This program was co-produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art, and the attention to detail shows throughout the production. There is a major focus on the art and architecture of the empire, which complements the story very well. Four stars!

This PBS special is very well done and worth watching for any history buff. The soundtrack is also great.

A great production by the The National Gallery of Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This is most definitley not a PBS production, and thank God for that! It may have ended up being another example of political/advocacy in favor or against one group instead of balanced historical reporting. |
