Decided not to buy another book of Shobhaa De',
This review is from: Sultry Days (Paperback)
Shobhaa De' is a former model and a well known figure in India as a columnist for several news papers and magazines. This is the first time I read a book of Shobhaa De' and I have come through only half of the book. Let me say that I am not at all impressed of how she offered the book.
The book is about a typical city girl name called Nisha and about her life. It started with how she meets a guy named called God (His actual name is Deb which means "God") and fell in love with him. Thats how the book is marketed and by reading back review it seems she actually is going to meet "God". But by reading first few paragraphs of the book, you will realize it is just a marketing trick and thats when you lose the interest of reading it. This book is all about money, sex, power and position. Which is something best can be read on a page 3 of any gossip magazine rather than reading this book. In addition of that, the book seems like a history of all the characters who Nisha met and about their life. Shobhaa De' failed to develop the main character and I don't blame her because if I am not wrong this is her second book and was published on 1994. But I decided to keep the book and never buy another book of Shobhaa De'.
