Finally a "all in one" case !,
By
This review is from: Sumdex Leather Portable Hard Drive Case (Office Product)
This is my second case from Sumdex. This one is made of nice feeling leather. It not only looks great, but it offers nice protection for my Palm. I specially like the additional pockets for credit or business cards. The zipper has a nice "feel" and this product really shows quality! I have used a lot of other cases, but this one has all the "simple" features in an elegant leather protection!

Visor deluxe - problems with it,

I have a visor deluxe and after reading all these good reviews I went with this cheap case. Well, the minute I opened it I noticed the nylon-ish sides blooming out of the sides, quite unattractive I thought. But, who cares, it was leather and did a good job right? The next problem was with the velcro holding device. You must glue the velcro patch to your PDA's back (which is tricky enough with springboard covers and batteries in the way) and plus it makes the pda quite ugly and less sleek to hold. Then, inside the case, it wobbles on the velcro stip's thickness. It rides pretty high, too, and doesn't feel "locked in"I was about ready to deal with all of this since the case did fit the twist stylus/pen i bought nicely, but then the true problem arose: *The velcro prevents the unit from slipping into the hotsynch cradle since it must rest nicely on the slot in the back of the unit* So, this made it utterly useless! Hats off to sumdex. I'll give it one extra star for price. Jon

very nice palm protector,
By Kaz (Glen Rock, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sumdex Leather Portable Hard Drive Case (Office Product)
I recently got this organizer wallet for my Palm Vx and overall I am very pleased. It is definitely a good value for the money. It comes in a nice soft black leather and the Sumdex name is imprinted on the front. The name doesn't stand out too much, as it is written in small letters in the bottom right hand corner. I am constently using my organizer and the zipper seems to be sturdy and holding up well to all the use its getting. My only disappointment is that it is just a little bit too large for the Palm Vx (approx. 1" too long). I wanted a zippered cover for my palm so that the face wouldn't get scratched up in my purse. This offers a nice protection, but I would have preferred it to fit a bit snugger just to conserve space in my purse. It does have adequate room for a few business cards, credit cards, etc. which is nice. Luckily, I haven't dropped it yet, but I believe it would offer enough protection to avoid damage to my Palm. Again, it is a nice organizer protector and is a good value.

Not for a Handspring,
By "kevan@surfree.com" (Tempe, AZ United States) - See all my reviews

This product is advertised as being able to fit any Handspring model, wrong! While it does fit, barely, it is too snug and applies too much pressure to the PDA screen resulting in battery drain. The loops for the pen work great if you want an average size pen to stick out of your case 2 inches, and the loops are too big to keep a stylus securely stowed away. I don't care for the velcro on the back, makes it hard to write cause the pda rocks back and forth on the velcro. I bought this case to use while I searched for the perfect case cause of the low price, wish I hadn't now.

A Great Wallet for your PDA,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sumdex Leather Portable Hard Drive Case (Office Product)
This wallet is perfect to carry your PDA, along with a few credit cards, id and some cash. There are even loops to hold spare batteries so you're never caught off guard. I use this everyday and find it small, yet highly functional.

Best So Far...,

This review is from: Sumdex Leather Portable Hard Drive Case (Office Product)
This is the fifth (or is it six now?) Palm case I've had. I decided that my new Prism called for a new case of its own. One of my favorite features is the battery loops. The Prism has an internal lithium ion battery, but I have a nice Cross stylus with a special soft tip that I could never fit in other cases. The battery loops hold it perfectly. It isn't entirely enclosed in the battery loops, like it would be in a stylus sleeve, so I can push up on the stylus from the bottom to get it out, making the whole process much, much easier. There's a huge strip of velcro that runs vertically inside the case, which makes it ideal for both Palms and Visors. I keep an 8 meg flash module in my Prism all the time, and the case does not interfere with it at all. The zipper is very sturdy, and while the pockets aren't fancy, they're certainly as good as the ones in the cases you can buy from Palm for $... I wish I'd known about this before I'd bought either of the two Palm versions that I've had in the past. Eight bucks (or $..., after all's said and done) for this is a deal that can't be beat with a foriegn ICBM.

Sumdex leather "wallet" case,
By Tim (New Orleans, LA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sumdex Leather Portable Hard Drive Case (Office Product)
This is an extremely nice zippered-case. The leather is extraordinarily high quality...surprisingly smooth. My Visor Deluxe fits inside it perfectly. Snug, but not too tight. I installed my Visor Deluxe in it backwards, using the Visor's front protective plastic cover as the VELCRO mounting point. This way, the BACK of the Visor is exposed when you upzip the Sumdex (most protected). Then, all you have to do is unlock the Visor from its VELCRO-mounted front cover (I used two pieces of VELCRO to mount the Visor's front cover to the Sumdex, by the way). The neat part about the Visor in this configuration is that all you have to do is unzip the Sumdex case, unsnap the Visor from its VELCRO-mounted front cover, then snap the Visor back into its cover, with the FACE of the Visor up. On the other hand, you may choose to store the Visor with its face exposed inside the Sumdex; that's no problem at all. However, it is better protected if you can remember to place the Visor with its back side facing up when you're done with it. I have dropped my Visor Deluxe at least 10-times while stored inside the Sumdex; half of the time with the Visor's face up. Furthermore, most of the drops were onto a concete surface. No damage to my Visor Deluxe in the Sumdex case. The folks at Sumdex installed some sort of rigid protective film inbetween the exterior in and inner case store area. It's well designed. I would rate this a nearly perfect case. And for the money - it is perfect! The only thing better would be if the Sumdex zip case had a belt clip (of some sort), because if you use it, it needs to be ready, or holstered. However, it is quite small, and easily fits into loose fitting pockets, a flightsuit pocket, or a handbag. This makes it very accessible. Viva' Sumdex...and Handspring! I've used this Sumdex case for 2 years. No wear and tear at all. Very good deal for the money. Tim Grimes

Good, but not for me (and you, may be),

When I looked at this case on this site and on the manufacturer's site I really liked it. It has everything I sought except one thing - it is too small to accomodate my Pocket PC (Cassiopeia E-125). It fits too tight to put anything else but the PPC inside, and all these handy pockets become unusable. Otherwise it is great item and if you have a device smaller than 3.25"x5"x0.75" you will enjoy this case to the maximum extent possible.

Best-kept secret in the PDA case world!,
By Irving Forbush "codejockey" (Davidson, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sumdex Leather Portable Hard Drive Case (Office Product)
Summary: I bought this case for my Palm Vx and love it! I admit I was skeptical -- but for the price I figured I didn't have much to lose. I'd seen other cases at prices between $... and $..., and I just didn't want to spend that much unless I was convinced I was really getting value for my money. Although not the ultimate PDA case by any means, the Sumdex offers a great combination of usefulness and style at an unbeatable price. Features: Very good quality leather, zipper and stitching. Compact design still allows room for credit cards, small memo pad, folding green. Velcro strip (included) securely attaches PDA to case. Clean, unobtrusive exterior with subtle Sumdex logo. Elastic battery holders also fit compact pens/pencils. Drawbacks: Compact design will not hold checkbook or larger memo pad and may not be suitable for larger PDAs (verify dimensions before purchasing). Not reversible -- PDA must be placed on right side of interior. No choice of color (black only). No dedicated window for business cards or other owner information. General comments: Overall, a great value in a stylish, well-designed case. Recommended.

Great case, great deal, great price,

I love this case! First of all, it looks great. It's good quality leather and the Sumdex logo is relatively unobtrusive on the front. I like the zipper enclosure, because even though it includes a Velcro strip to stick on the back of your PDA I don't have to use it (thereby marring the back of my new visor) because the zipper keeps it from falling out. Another reviewer said the case was too snug for his Visor. I have a Handspring Visor Deluxe and mine fits just fine. The only way the fit is a little snug is when I keep the plastic cover on (that came with the visor), but this way I don't have to worry about any possible battery drain or scratches on the screen. Though I have yet to drop my visor in its new case, I have no doubt that it would survive just fine. The leather on the front and back is fairly stiff on the inside (perhaps due to cardboard inserts?) but still slightly padded to the touch on the outside. The corners are rounded for comfort but still very sturdy ( I can't even make them bend myself). All this, added to the fact that it has card slots, elastic loops for holding batteries or an extra stylus, and a *cheap* price means it's a great deal that shouldn't be passed up. |
