A Paragon Text!,
This book was one of my seminary textbooks, yet it's written in layman's language, informative, and a good read. As such, it's been rated by some religious professionals as a gold standard text.
At some point over the years, I lost or misplaced my copy from school, so I'm getting another to replace it. And, this time, I'll put it directly into my locked bookcase for convenience and security. In short, if you want an easy to read yet extensive summary of Christian History by a highly qualified scholar, I don't think you can do better than this book.

I read this book for a seminary class and found the book to be great. It's an easy to read and interesting survey of church history. I still use the book often and certainly would recommend it.

This book is a textbook that is a summary of the history of the Christian church. It is used by a number of Christian colleges and Universities as a survey textbook. It is written in an interesting style and contains helpful summaries at the end of each chapter. Never having had such a course in college, it was exactly what I was looking for. It is written from the evangelical point of view but is fairly objective. It deals with the differences in doctrine in various sub-groups very well. I would recommend it to any serious student of church history.
