About the Author
Growing up in a West Virginia mining community and visiting my grandparents' farm provided imaginative playmates and treasures of rural life. I knew youngsters who created an amusement park with a creek and inner tubes. Tales Grandpa spun transformed woods and fields into magical worlds. I began teaching with great stories for assignment springboards. During my career, I taught and learned from hundreds of Appalachian youngsters. I worked with talented educators. I met many devoted parents, and encountered a handful of less desirable ones. These are the people I've tried to share through the pages of Sammy and Mr. B.
