Love Among the Recipes!,
This review is from: Summer Desserts (Great Chefs) (Paperback)
In the many years I have been reading Nora Roberts, her characters have had many different occupations. From a detective in the In Death series written under the name JD Robb to an archeologist in Birthright to a glass blower in Born in Fire and a dance instructor in Reflections, Ms. Roberts always provides her readers with not only interesting professions but wonderful research into what these jobs are all about. And now in one of her older titles from the Language of Love series, Summer Desserts, Ms. Roberts tackles the world of cooking and hotel ownership.
When a young woman chef goes to work for a hotel owner sparks fly over the prime rib and creme brulee. But as the chef, Summer consumes large amounts of fast foods to keep her happy, she cannot deny her growing interest in her boss or his interest in her. This was a good read and just right for the end of the summer. Best part is that readers of this book can continue to read about one of the characters introduced in this book in the sequel, Lessons Learned. As with most of the Nora Robert's books I recommend, this was a delightful journey and destination to happily ever after. And the descriptions of the food should keep your mouth watering and will have you headed to the kitchen to whip up a some up some good menus, but most of all desserts.

Nora "Cooks Up" A Great One!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Summer Desserts (Great Chefs) (Paperback)
Very enjoyable early Nora Roberts about a famous pastry chef and the hotel owner who hires her to revamp the tired menu in his restaurant. Great book for cooking fans too! There is also a sequel to this book called "Lessons Learned", which continues the story of Summer's sexy Italian chef friend, Carlo. Excerpt from the back of the book: "Chef Summer Lyndon had quite a sweet tooth, though she knew that giving in to her craving for her deliciously handsome boss would be a hazard to her peace of mind. How could she stick to a "no Blake Cocharan" diet when she found him simply too tempting to resist? Hotel owner Blake Cocharan had always prided himself on his good taste, which was why he hired lovely chef Summer Lyndon. But never had a tough cookie been such a tasty-looking morsel..."

Nora Roberts does a consistently wonderful job in weaving a story that is interesting with characters the reader can connect with. This book was not as engaging. I usually can't put one of her books down without reading it completely cover to cover. I really struggled to finish this one.
