About the Author

Alan Seeger began writing stories at the age of ten or so, filling spiral notebooks which have since, fortunately, been eaten by a black hole in space. An editor, essayist, songwriter, graphic designer and novelist, he is the proprietor of Five59 Publishing, which, in addition to publishing his own work, puts out a short story anthology each quarter, including the annual horror collection 13 BITES. The Five59 website also includes a monthly web magazine, Five59 Monthly, which features short stories, poetry, and essays from up-and-coming authors, presented in a web-based format, one month at a time and then archived for readers to access at any time, all for FREE.

Seeger writes about things otherworldly -- sometimes interplanetary or interdimensional, other times twisted and terrifying. He is an advocate for Native American rights, writing the Facebook blog Honor The Treaties as well as the music blog Raised on Rock.

He will graduate (at long last!) from Sinte Gleska University in August of 2015 with a BA in English and Creative Writing. His latest work is the omnibus edition of his science fiction series, The Gatespace Trilogy, published in December 2014.

I downloaded this book for my holiday along with countless others, but I'm sure you know what it's like when you go away and plan to read...and then things don't quite work out like that. I had visions of sitting in the sun all day and getting through the hundreds of novels that had received rave reviews on Amazon, and it just didn't work like that. To begin with, the novels I started prior to this collection of short stories did nothing to gran my attention and I found myself flicking from one to the other and I just couldn't get 'into' them with a dog, child and husband biting my ankles. So, I finally got to this one and it hooked me from the start. I adored the mix of stories and the fact that I could pick up and put down to read in short bursts. I fell in love with many of the writers' styles, however my favourite story has to be the one offered by Tabitha Ormiston-Smith because it had the perfect blend of humour, intrigue and mystery, a possible love angle, and a cat (with a fabulous name)....of course! I can't ever remember buying a collection of stories in one book before (apart from children's ones), but it's given me a real appreciation for the skill and art involved in combining such greats.

I'm not usually a fan of short stories but I DO love summer-themed books so decided to give this collection a try.

Great cover to begin with and the stories included are well written and original.

If you are looking for another 'beach read' to load on your kindle and particularly if you enjoy short stories, this is worth a look!

The authors did an outstanding job on these anthology short stories. Every story in this book keeps you captivated until the very end. A great novel to read sitting in your beach chair by the pool.

This is a must get and read book. Summer Dreams has a wonderful selection of short stories. I do believe Stranger in Paradise by Carla Sarett stands out above the others. Carla has this ability to tell a story that makes you feel like it is an actual event. She gets you from the first sentence and holds you until the last period. Well worth the price!

This is an interesting collection of short stories by various authors. I took it on a camping trip and read the stories as I found spare time between activities. There was a variety of stories that would interest most readers. It would be a good collection for summer time and for anytime when the reader wants to think about summer.
