5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Stranger
I fell in love with the book Dark Stranger about two years ago and I have been searching for the two sequels in the series ever since only to find out that they were out of print. I am elated that I am finally able to get the "rest of the story" about the Slater brothers. I know I will love anything that Heather Graham writes and she hasn't disappointed me...

2.0 out of 5 stars my review
This is the story of three brothers during and after the Civil War and how they were able to find love and happiness after so much death and destruction.

The characters seem very real and the places are pretty well described, as well as the general feeling felt by all the people living in the Kansas-Missouri border during those times.

Good summer reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 3 Slater Brothers Stories wapped up in one book, September 30, 2003

This review is from: Summer Fires (3 novels in 1) (Paperback)
I enjoyed seeing the three stories of the Slater Brothers brought together in one book - it sure keeps the reader from having to hunt around to find the sequels. This book contains Cole Slater & Kristin McCahy's story (Dark Stranger) during the Civil War with jayhawks and bushwackers both interested in the McCahy farm, Malachi Slater & Shannon McCahy's story (Rides A Hero) right after the war with the kidnapping of Kristin McCahy Slater and the capturing of the 3 gunfightn' Slater Brothers wanted for murder, and Jamie Slater & Tess Stuart's story (Apache Summer) several years after the war on the frontier land of Texas where Tess Stuart is being forced off her land by a greedy man who already owns the rest of the town. It makes for good read- with Heather Graham being the author the reader won't want for much. Some of the sexual encounters are pretty graphic- if that bothers you you might want to avoid it. Some readers overlook and go on. HG always tells an exciting story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Those Heros, February 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Summer Fires (3 novels in 1) (Paperback)
I get really tired of a lot of today's romance stories that have to be so darn politically correct! Heather Graham and Connie Mason tend to buck the system a bit by giving us women who need to be rescued from themselves and the bad guys. I will admit that some of the sex in these books tend to be a bit much, I skip over some of it. I love the stories and the romance in this book of reprints of three of Heather Grahams first works. Give me a knight in shinning armor or a super hero anytime. Five Stars for Summer Fires.

1.0 out of 5 stars Where's the plot????????, May 24, 2001

This review is from: Summer Fires (3 novels in 1) (Paperback)
I bought this book because it offered a Civil War setting. What I've discovered in the first two-thirds of "Dark Stranger" is one seduction followed by another seduction and another seduction, etc. Not sure I want to slog through all the sex to finish the first of the trilogy, let alone read the other two stories if there's no historical setting and no real story here. Very disappointing and I wish I had my money back!
