I like the idea of this monitor! Bought it with first child. Less than two years later went to use the second camera for 2nd baby and didn't work. It was no longer under warranty, so all they would was send another camera. They sent 3, none worked. Then a month later the monitor went stopped working. We did leave it on most of the time, so maybe turn it off when not in use

We rec'd this as a baby shower gift. My daughter will be 3 in July and we still use it everynight. We had our second child when our first was 20 months. Both cameras are on everyday, I never shut them off, and I turn the monitor on every night. I love being able to switch channels to see each child sleep. I feel at eased to know they are safe and sound. It has been almost 3 years and it still works great. It is definitly the best, and worth every penny.

This monitor is definitly the best purchase we made! Being a first time parents we were constantly worried about everything! Especially when our baby was asleep. Yeah, we tried sleeping in the same room for a while, but around 3 months she started waking up every time we moved. So we purchased the monitor and set it up right on the side of the crib, so that we could see her face. You can hear every breath she takes and the video quality is great: when the lights are off, you can see as good as if it was daytime. We live in an appartment building, but there is hardly ever any interference. The baby is now 1 and half and we moved the camera in the corner of the room, so that you could see the whole crib. I can see her playing and it is so much fun watching her talk to her toys and laugh all by herself. I would recommend this product for every parent out there.

My husband and I also received this system for our first born. We used it everyday, and loved being able to check on our son without walking down the hall (and risk waking him!). With that said, just after having it 2 years the TV monitor went out. Very annoying since we are expecting our second! We are going to buy a new one, but we not expecting it to last for a third child, maybe we will be surprised. Since it only lasted 2yrs I guess it cost me 20 cents a day, not too upset. Buy it! This is totally worth it!

This monitor was given to us 2 years ago as a baby shower gift. We used it all day every day for these 2 years so I have to say that we definitely got our friends' money's worth out of it. We rarely used the second camera because we only had one child at the time. Now, we're expecting our second baby next week & we cannot get the 2nd camera to work. More importantly than that, the monitor itself has gone out. It started out several months ago with having a problem with the screen "rolling". Eventually, it would stop & we could see into our son's room again. Then, over time a black stripe down the right side appeared. Finally this morning the screen went entirely black after being on for about an hour. I called the Summer Infant Customer Service department & she said that they discontinued this particular model about a year ago & that Babies R Us wouldn't replace it since it's been 2 years.

Save your money & don't get the dual camera feature on this monitor. I think you can buy one with just one camera. Or, find another brand if that's the main thing that you're needing. Other than that, we've been very pleased with the video quality (up until the problems started) and sound.

I am not particularly impressed with this item. I have it set in two rooms and there is so much feedback to the parent unit that I cannot have it scan between the two rooms which it is intended for. I tried all of the suggestions in the owner's manual and none of them work. There is also a lot of feedback with the one camera in motion. I would not recommend this item to anyone.

First let me say I LOVE having a video monitor - I'd swear that's why my kids are such good sleepers. I had the other Summer Infant Video Monitor (non-scanning) for a good 2 years before the receivor stopped working, so when I had my recent baby, I decided to try this model. It's only been out for 6 months apparently and they just haven't gotten it right quite yet. The picture quality is fantastic, but I am now on my third one and they are starting to break faster and faster. First of all, it is on a 2.4 Ghz frequency so if you have a wireless internet router in your house, this can't go near it. Also, be careful of wireless phones that may be on the same frequency.

The first monitor just went black after 3 months - no picture on the screen, even though I had audio. Second monitor took an hour for the picture to show up once you turned it on. I'm now trying a different model - going back to a less powerful Ghz.

The only upside is that the company sent me new ones very quickly - the customer service has been great and I think they want to get it right. I would stick to their other models though.

Just as another reviewer stated, shortly after one year the power unit cracked. Ordered another power unit just to find out the whole monitor had quit working also. We loved it until then.

Great reception, great audio, superior night IR picture. Had it for about a year, then the monitor stopped working. Bought a replacement monitor directly from the company, but that one stopped working after a year, too. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a recurrent problem.
*** Night vision tip: you can piggy-back other cameras on the same shelf to increase night IR picture quality. I've even done this with a camera from another manufacturer. The little IR transmitters are additive between cameras.

Like other reviewers...I loved the product for the first year. My wife and I turned it off anytime the baby wasn't sleeping. But after a year, the power cord would no longer stay plugged into the monitor. It's probably a 50 cent repair, but their "company policy" is to not do repairs. Instead, I have to pay nearly $50 to get a new one! I just can't comprehend not standing behind your product!! I wouldn't buy any product from this company again!
