I bought two of these for our two cars at the beginning of the summer when I started potty training. My daughter had no accidents in the car until we went on our long road trip. We were driving from North Carolina to New Jersey. My daughter had fallen asleep in the car and we didn't want to stop and wake her up (note: stop every 2 hours for 3 year olds for potty time). She woke up screaming because she wet herself. My husband pulled off at the first exit, but there wasn't anything at this exit in remote, southern Virginia. However, we did find a car wash that you can use yourself and it was empty. So we pulled off there. As I got my daughter changed, my husband tackled the car seat. We feared the worst. However, the car seat was DRY! Except for a little leaking around the buckle, it caught about 98% of the urine. It only took about five papertowels to get the buckle clean.

I must credit my husband with what he did next. He took the piddle pad to the car wash and power-washed it. He also sprayed my daughter's shorts and underwear to get the urine out. She thought it was funny. Then we put it all in plastic shopping bags as we drove further and found a rest stop. Then my husband used the blow dryer in the bathroom to dry it. It was good to go again for the rest of our long journey.

I highly recommend this. If we didn't have it, I bet we'd still be stuck in Southern Virginia because we'd have to clean and dry the car seat itself.

This is the 2nd piddle pad I have purchased. I used the first for my son during those fabulous potty training days and it has now been passed down to his baby sister who is known for her "blowouts" in the car seat. (we need another one for the other car seat). The pad has been washed many times and still looks great. We have used the first one for over a year and feel that there is still a lot of use left in it. It covers the seat very well and is much easier than having to remove the whole car seat. We do have to use a burp cloth at the foot area in conjuction with the piddle pad for the baby but that is mainly because I like the whole seat to be covered from the inevitable weekly "blowout".

I bought this for my 21-month-old who's potty trained at home. I'd hoped it would help us be able to keep her in underpants for car rides. For those little accidents where she starts to go, but realizes in time to stop and wait for the potty, it did ok, but not great. A little bit of urine wicked down to the car seat cover from the buckle, but I was able to spot clean and not have to remove the entire cover. However, if she has a bigger accident where she just goes until she's done (which doesn't often happen, but she's still pretty young, so it does from time to time), the piddle pad might as well not be on the seat. Everything soaks right through, all the way down to the car upholstery underneath the car seat. I can't even imagine trying to use this with an older child who pees more at one time. It just doesn't seem to absorb much at all. We have a Britax Boulevard, and I suppose it could be that it just isn't a great fit for our car seat. I also hate that it needs to line dry, and takes quite a while. Ultimately, I think a plastic grocery bag covered with a cloth diaper does a better job of keeping the seat dry.

We have 3 kids and a complete set of car seats in each car and all 6 car seats have a Piddle Pad! Infants have 'blowouts' and toddlers have 'accidents' often enough that I'd much rather clean an insert that's easy to remove and reinstall rather than take off the car seat cover and run it through the wash immediately so we can get back to school tomorrow morning.

I really like this product. It washes up well and for the most part does what it's suppose to. I gave it 4 stars because there's been a couple of times that it hasn't absorbed everything and I've still had to wash the car seat cover after an accident.

This is a must have especially for those breast fed babies. After a very bad blow out that left a dripping mess in a store I invested in one of these. I cannot say enough good about it and our little darling has put it to the test. We love it so much we picked up a second one. Stays in place and is worth it's weight in gold. Now there is no longer a need to figure out how to get an extra car seat in the diaper bag. ;-)

Someone NEEDS to design a better one of these! I bought this for my toddler to help with accidents on long car rides. First, the front part should definitely be longer and extend further down under the legs to where the knees hang over the seat as that's where it gets the wettest.! It makes no sense to me it stops where it does and yet, it has such a high back! Pee doesn't go up the back! Maybe it works better for boys, but for girls it's no help keeping the car seat dry! I also suspect that wetness goes through the hole where the buckle goes through. I sure wish someone would come up with something that covers more area and is more waterproof! If they made a disposable one, that would even be better!

This makes me feel better about putting our two year old in his carseat without a pull up on. We haven't relied on it yet, but I feel better knowing it's there. Sometimes I have to wrestle with it though, lining it up with the buckles.

To date (touch wood,) we have not had an accident, so I cannot speak on washing or absorbency.
The pad fits my son's car seat perfectly and does not move or shift under him. It is very soft and comfortable. It covers up his back far enough and through his bottom area enough that I feel any accident would be contained.
My son is now 3 years old and I am ready to move to son #2 car seat when he starts to potty train-does not look worn.
Would recommend.

What a great idea! I'm currently using this for my potty-training 3-year-old--I wish I'd had one of these for my first two kids! I can't tell you how many times I've had to wash my car seat covers when someone had an accident. This is perfect--just take it out and wash.
