My video shows why I am returning this product. I couldn't record the product in actual use because I never got that far, it broke before I even got it out of the box. It didn't match our wood color either, I may go with the cherry version though. Hope this helps.

Originally, when I purchased this item it was $59.99. The item arrived in a timely manner thought the shipping box was damaged in the corner. The gate was in good shape, though.

Pros:

-Solid wood

-Fairly sturdy design

Cons:

-The foot spacer is a tripping hazard

-The wall support bars may damage wall board

-The wall supports need to be tightened often

Although I have more cons than pros listed, I would still purchase this item as a pet gate. I do not think it is sturdy enough to be a child proof gate on stairs.

Wow. This gate is beautiful - a nice change from many of the plastic baby gates - and very sturdy. Trey can pull himself up on it, headbutt it, etc., and it doesn't budge. I just wish it were a little taller, so I didn't have to lean over so much to release the gate.

Since I specifically needed a pressure mount gate with the bottom knobs higher than most, this works fine for that. However, the first one we received had a huge crack in the wood. The manufacturer was great getting us a new one though. Installation is more challenging than other pressure gates we've installed, and we're still having trouble getting it square (and to stay square) and tight. It looks great though. I wouldn't recommend it unless you really want the wood look or need clearance for the baseboards like we did.

If I could give this gate 0 stars, i would. It's completely nonfunctional. I was really excited about this gate when I ordered it. However, as nice as it looks, it is a bigger pain than it's worth. I'm very disappointed, especially considering this was an expensive gate. The pressure mounts don't work. The gate slides out of place each time the gate is opened and closed, which is what makes it nonfunctional.

This gate is absolutely horrible. Sure it looks good and matches our furniture but it was the worst thing I have ever bought. It constantly needs re-adjusting, it doesn't lock tight, even my 12 month old can open it if only he pulls hard enough. So in other words I might as well have thrown the $60 out the window and not bought a gate at all. Same difference.

We just bought a different gate from dreambaby which is GREAT. It is not as pretty but it does what it's supposed to do. I highly advise anyone to not buy this unless you enjoy wasting your money.

I got this gate earlier this week and it is awesome! Installation was easy and it's easy to use. It also looks really nice compared to other pet gates. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Order one and if you don't like it return it.

The gate is as nice as it looks in the picture! It matched our American Cherry woodwork perfectly and has a nice contemporary look to it. The gate requires compression to work, so don't worry when it doesn't look like it will fit at first. It will. We use the gate to keep our small dogs in our laundry area when we are gone. It works well and is easy to use, however, a clever dog can pull it out of place and escape, so you'll need to check the compression from time to time. There is no door holder, so we had to find something with some weight to keep the door open when we are home. We also didn't use the extra bar brackets that expand the door more as our doorway didn't require them. I think this one gate would work well in a variety of situations.

The gate works well for our needs, but doesn't always latch on its own. We manually latch it each time. We use our gate to keep our dogs in our familyroom. After the dogs have pushed on it for a while, the gate may no longer be straight. But all in all, it does what it is made to do. The gate keeps dogs/toddlers in.

This beautiful gate has one major downfall, it doesn't work very good. It is supposed to have a little button at the top that realeases to open the gate, after instalation that latch wasn't in a location to even work. To set up you have to tighten it into the doorway and it builds pressure at the top till it supposedly comes into contact with the latch. By the time I got that far, the bottom of the gate was so tight that the latch at the bottom was very tight. The only way to opperate it is to lift the gate and carefully set it in the hole at the bottom. If you want a gate that closes by itself, this is not the one for you, the spring didn't do much at all after the first day. Still, if you set if properly, it does its job and it still looks very nice.
