1.0 out of 5 stars HUGE disappointment, DON'T buy!!, December 29, 2008

"Real World" review here: I was so ridiculously disappointed with this baby bath that I have gone out of my way to write a review for the FIRST time.

We bought this mainly for the shower attachment because it seemed like SUCH a great idea! BUT, after opening the box, we found out what a cheap, worthless piece of crap this really is. Here's why:

01. The hose/tube for the shower attachment is made out of a thin, shiny, sticky, vinyl that twists and crimps easily. In fact, right out of the box, it was already twisted and crimped and I tried to straighten it out (so water could get through), but I had no luck. It was like the tube had a memory of its own because every time I tried to straighten it out, it kept going back to it's crimped/twisted shape.

02. The shower head has a button to turn on the battery operated pump, BUT it's not an on/off button!! You have to continuously PUSH (with alot of pressure) the button on for the water to come out. If you subtly push less, the water will stop or just drizzle out. SO, you have to push HARD continuously and after about 15 seconds, the tip of your finger is aching. I am a guy and can take some pain, but this is just insane. Did they test this product themselves and think, "Yeah, we want it to be difficult to keep this thing on . . no pain no gain.". ALSO, if you are so lucky to straighten out the tube, the water pressure is WEAK. I know there shouldn't be alot of water coming out for a baby, but pouring water over our baby's head took 1/10 the time it took to get the soap out with the shower attachment . . . go figure.

03. The pump takes 6 AA batteries which I guess isn't so bad, but it seems a little over excessive. I have no clue how long they last since the first time we used the bath, was our last time. The pump is also LOUD which scared our little one.

04. The tub itself was OK because it had a pad glued to the bottom, but there were no "stops" built in to prevent our baby from throwing herself backwards in the tub. Other tubs have a raised area in between the legs to prevent this from happening.

Overall, this was a HUGE disappointment. The user experience is not only difficult, but abysmal. I am flabbergasted at how a product like this can actually make it to market. Summer should be ashamed of themselves.

2.0 out of 5 stars Did not live up to my expectations, November 4, 2007
This review is from: Summer Infant Newborn-Toddler Bath Center & Shower- Blue (Baby Product)
I was really excited to get this tub because of the shower feature with it. I was really looking forward to also using it when she got big enough to sit in the bath tub. It was great until my baby was about 3 months old and the pump stopped working. I exchanged it for another and the pump in that one stopped working within a month. I gave up. Just get a regular bath tub and then get the Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seat. It is great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy for the Shower, January 6, 2009

The tub itself is OK, but the shower part is lacking. It does have a temperature indicator on it, which is nice, but the rest is disappointing.

First, it takes 6 AA Batteries. These batteries are behind two covers, inside a pump unit that screws into the shower reservoir. To change the batteries, you have to take apart the reservoir, twist and push and twist again on the pump to remove from the reservoir top, then twist off a water-tight cap (that obviously doesn't keep water out as evidenced by the rusted screw inside), then unscrew the second cap so that you can get to the batteries. Forgive me as I insert my standard gripe - I shouldn't need a screwdriver to change the batteries in something like this! A child has no business playing with this - it isn't a toy! When not in use, it should be stored. Watch your children - monitor their activities. While I've never personally known of a child who tried to swallow a battery, I bet if they were properly supervised, this couldn't happen! End rant.

Anyway, the batteries only last long enough for about three baths. We used your basic Energizer alkaline batteries through the first two battery changes. There won't be a third as we've stopped using this shower.

The other issue with the shower was that the button is located underneath a waterproof seal as it would need to be. However, the button is pretty small and can be hard to find. Then once you find it, you have to keep holding it, which can also be difficult.

I would not recommend this tub/shower system. There are nicer tubs you can buy for the same amount of money or equally as nice tubs without a shower unit for less money. Take your pick of those, but stay away from here.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Summer Infant Newborn-Toddler Bath Center & Shower- Blue (Baby Product)
The one feature I really like about this tub is the sling. I like that I can use the sling by itself in the sink, or prop it in the infant tub. I also like the size of the tub - it's very roomy, and I have big babies. The shower feature is worthless - it has never worked correctly.

The sling did wear out when my third baby was 2 months old, and I received a new tub as a gift. This shower doesn't work, either, but I still love the sling, so am keeping it. If it hadn't been a gift, though, I'd have decided that the sling didn't make up for the other deficiencies, and I'd have purchased a different tub.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what you think..., January 7, 2010
By
Jem "Jem" (Riverside County, CA USA) - See all my reviews
I purchased this tub for my new little one and was seriously disappointed. Just as with other reviews, the pump is loud, too many batteries, and the tube for the shower nozzle is ridiculously coiled in a way that keeps the water from properly flowing through. Also, it only pumps water that is in the actual water container, not from the bath tub itself. Therefore, you run out of water to pump quickly - it is not a continuously circulating pump. I did like the color and the actual netted seat that the bath came with. However, once the baby starts to sit up, you can no longer use it, plus, the tub is not necessarily suitable for longer babies. We only used the pump maybe twice and then we decided to get a new tub. I think for $30 we were expecting something a bit nicer. I would save your money and look into something else. I would not recommend this tub to anyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, October 27, 2009
If this hadn't been given to me I would not be using it. First, the tub is large so if you don't have much space, don't buy it. Second, the shower feature, though a great idea, is implemented very poorly. I used it once and that was enough for me. The buttons to activate the shower head take a lot of strength to operate and with the weak water pressure, it was truly a waste of time. Also, the shower head hose crimps easily, making it sometimes difficult to keep the head in place. The sling was useful but my baby outgrew it in no time. The pink non-skid foam circle is a nice touch but since my baby moves around a lot, unfortunately, it doesn't do that much good. Would have been nice if the non-skid padding were over most of the tub bottom. All in all, I'd say look elsewhere for a tub. This one was sorely disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shower Worked One Time, February 19, 2009
By
This was a great idea, too bad it is cheaply made. I like the tub and the net but the shower feature on my tub only worked one time. I thought the batteries had died after using it that one time but after changing them to brand new batteries it still didn't work. I just use it as a regular tub now with no shower. So basically I paid twice as much for a baby tub as I should have. I can only guess that the pump is broken.

Es una porqueria, se ve super bien en la caja pero a la hora del baño sale mas agua por los bordes de la ducha que por los huecos. Super decepcionada y no es nada de barata . Le recomiendo que lo piensen antes de comprar.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrrible quality product, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Summer Infant Newborn-Toddler Bath Center & Shower- Blue (Baby Product)
This is my first review. If this weren't a baby product, I'd just write off $30 and forget about it.

1. The whirpool/shower assembly is very cheap. The switch on the unit broke almost immediately.

2. The infant seat, which consists of material over a painted metal frame, rusted through the paint. Also the fabric stains and has started to mildew.

3. There is something about the tub plastic that is prone to mildew. I was shocked to find mildew all over the platic structure supports on the tub underside. These, by the way are very hard to clean. I used tub cleaner to remove the mildew and found that it comes back in a few days. I've never seen anything like it.

My wife called the company, and they had her send back the whirlpool/shower assembly and infant seat. The company seemed to want to correct the problem. Unfortunately, it seems the product is just constructed of poor materials.

I can't speak to the whirpool/shower replacement. We sent back the whole assembly, including the water reservoir bucket, and they only sent us the pump. We called back to ask for the bucket, and they seemd to be confused about what the part was. In the end, we received a bucket, but its a smaller size, for a different model. We have new pump and bucket that don't fit together and so can't be used.

The infant seat replacement arrived and the replacement already rusted through with a couple weeks. The fabric has also started to mildew.

Our baby is only four months, so we were only able to get a couple of months use out of this product - including replacement parts. The picture on Amazon shows the company has updated the model, but I'd be suspicious of this company's products due to poor materials. We're going to throw away this product and get another brand tub.
