The small, lightweight size of the Summer Infant monitor is great for parents. The system comes complete with a 1.8 in. color TFT screen which is great for any household. One of the great things about the baby video monitor is that it allows the parent to see baby in a darkened room. It is one of the few baby monitors to be equipped with night vision. The two channel selection means that the possiblity for interference is lessened. A 350 ft. range is a fantastic feature on the Summer Infant monitor. The power saving abilities of this baby video monitor from Summer Infant is wonderful. It features a recharageable battery which can last up to 10 hours and includes a power saving features which times out after 3 minutes.

This monitor was one of the best gifts I received. I've been using it for almost two years and will continue to use it for our toddler. It's easy to clip onto my pants and work around the house, the video is good, and the light display shows the level of sound in baby's room (from soft breathing to loud crying) even if the volume is turned down. I can walk out to our mailbox and still get a pretty good signal.
It really saves a lot of time from not having to go to our son's room and peek or listen in on him. I have gotten much good sleep with this monitor plugged in by my bed at night. If I wake up, I can just look at the lights or turn up the volume to check on my child. It also has two channels for selecting the best reception and, if we have another child, I will buy a second monitor to use a channel for each child's room.
I did have to replace the monitor once, because the connection from the outlet cord to the camera failed, but I haven't had trouble since then, and the convenience and peace of mind that this monitor has brought far outweighs that issue.

I have this monitor and have seen several reviews with problems that made them give bad reviews on this. For those with the volume issues, if you vigerously turn the volume up and down it will clean out all the dust and dirt that got into the volume switch and then you will not have the issue where you either have to have the volume all the way up or nothing at all. Also, for those with the power cord issues where you have to play with the cord for a while to get it to work. Its the actual plug itself. If you squeeze the two prongs slightly, then insert in the wall socket it should be fine.
Other than those two issues, this is a great monitor system for the price.

I don't usually write reviews, but thought this one deserved one. I absolutly loved this monitor from day one. My son is now 3 and we still use it everyday. But of course with anything there are pros and cons. Here are mine:
Pros:
-Video is great, very clear, have never had a problem with the screen
-Battery life is amazing! We use this all night long and for daytime naps. So this mean early on I had this monitor on during the day 2-3 times for several hours plus all night. Now that my son is older, he takes 1 daytime nap (2-3 hours) and sleeps 12 hours at night. Yes I keep it plugged in all night, but unplug it all day until I go to bed, usually several hours after he does. I have never had it turn off while being used.
-Sound is very clear. As a newborn it was stationed pretty close to him and I could hear him breathing. We do keep a fan on for white noise, so because of that it is not quiet while on, but thats just because of the fan. He has asthma and I love that I can hear everything all night without issue.
Cons:
-ONLY ISSUE (but big to me): After about 16 months of amazing quality, the sound part began to die. It would just shut off or come in or out randomly. I called and of course it was past warrenty, but they did replace it. Well around the same time, with the second one the same thing started happening. So it is very annoying because now we have to keep it pretty loud so that I know when the sound shuts off. I have to fiddle with knob a bit to get it to turn back up. Very weird. I have read another review with similar issues so my assumpsion is it is a defect of some sort in this monitor. We still use it, but it is getting worse. The weird thing is, that the video has never once been an issue and the camera has been on in my sons room for 3 years. I never shut it off. You would think that would have died...

He never leaves his bed till we come in and I like that. I also like to be able to just peek on him when I want. We are now in search of a new video monitor for our baby due in June. I don't think I will be getting this same one. I would like something that will last longer, but thats maybe unreasonable.
