Product Description

The Sure and Secure Double Bedrail from Summer Infant is an essential item for your child when transitioning them from their crib to a bed. Security, ease of use and value all in one great item. For added convenience this bedrail only needs minimal assembly, due to new regulations, for a quick installation. It fits twin and queen sized mattress or platform beds and each panel measures 42.5'' length x 20'' height. This Double Bedrail has one panel that folds down for easy access to the bed or to change linens. The blue fashion blends well with many different room decors.

Sturdy and easy to assemble.
PD2010
It is way too tight - to the point where the mattress was being squeezed and actually lifting off of the box spring.

Keeps our child safe each night.

Hello, I bought one of this a couple of years ago for my older son, we're still using it on his bed and like it very much so now that his younger brother is about to leave the crib I simply bought another, expecting to get the same thing, huge mistake. The product has some important changes to the worst, in no particular order:

1. The metal parts that go beneath the mattress are way shorter and instead of a rectangular it’s a round tube, so it’s not as stable as the older version. Cost cuttings probably?

2. The new one has an extra lateral tube on each side that hits against the mattress and pushes the bedrail outward (maybe if your mattress is really, really thin (or short) this won’t be a problem, but then you'll get a nice metal tube for your children to hit himself with on top of the mattress) . I really have no idea why they made this change, it can't be cost cuttings and is stupid security wise, the only explanation I see is that since as a whole this thing is flawed, those extra tubes might be what actually stop children from falling. Unlike the older version that fits tight and the mesh is what makes the stop.

3. The width adjustment has been dumbed down or beautified, safety should never be dumbed down nor come second to beauty! In the older version you can adjust each side by loosening or tightening the cord as needed, so no matter your mattress width you could get it really tight to the millimeter.

Read the reviews and as always you have to take many of them with a pinch of salt. Needless to say we were in the market for a dual-sided rail set for our son. We had removed a rather expensive queen bed for his nursery a few years ago and now he’s at the age where a bigger size bed was needed.

Rather spend on a children's bed that would require replacing in a few years we decided to give the old bed and mattress a try. My point here is in the unusual case where these rails might be required to branch the width of a queen size bed, I can attest to the fact they will, the mattress has enough weight and height to keep the uprights in solid formation and prevent him from falling down between mattress and rail ... for the record he now sleeps soundly for the whole night in the bed, although be it rather large for him.

The bed is a low platform bed and solid wood construction, the sides rails are set to their deepest setup, one side is designed to stay in the upright position permanently, the other side (right hand side as seen in the stock photo) folds outward and down, although the platform bed prevents this from being vertically downwards.

Assembly is easy and instructions are clear and simplistic in nature, time to assemble without a stop-watch or pushing the sound barrier was approximately 25 minutes. Construction is good and solid (for cloth sided rails), this is in comparison to a single sided rail used in his cribs side off setup.

After reading these reviews, purchasing this item, assembling it and for what is a little over two weeks and backed by a sense of assurance, I’m left struggling with what some of the reviewers as saying, for example “useless and unsafe”, I can see no evidence to support this in my experience and environment.

For nearly 5 years we've had the same summer infant double bed rail product in pink for my older daughter. we moved into a new house where both my daughters beds were no longer against walls, requiring us to order a second set of these to cover both sides of the bed. I bought this thinking it would be the same quality as the summer infant double bed rail we purchased in 2009. NOT the case. this is cheaply made, we've only been using it for about 3 months on a double bed and the plastic joint/connector piece under the mattress is already broken from constant tightening up of the straps, it doesn't stay in place. its a BIG disappointment. The quality of this product has siginifanctly diminshed. AND the height of this product is so much shorter as well as the width - its short enough attached to her mattress that she could actually roll off her mattress over the top of these guard rails. there's very little clearance between the top of her mattress and the top of these bed rails. Very disappointing! unfortunately, i exceeded my return window limit with Amazon as its been over 3 months since i've had the product, but Amazon worked with me to offer a replacement since the product broke so soon after ordering it. Many thanks to Amazon for being a great company to work with!!!

I decided to go for this double bed rail over other ones because it had 6 five star reviews and only 1 one star review. Though that was not a large sample size, it rated much better than some of the competing products. Now I wish I had read that one star review more closely... that reviewer said that the "new" version of this (which I must have gotten) only had five preset adjustment slots as opposed to a more flexible system on the previous model. This made it hard to make it work well with a given bed. This is exactly what we found. Our bed, which is a standard twin (we've checked at least ten times and measured it repeatedly), was too wide for this rail when it was on the largest "twin setting" and way too small when it was on the smallest "full" setting. We called the company and they sent us a replacement, but the same thing was true. I am returning them asap. I really don't get it--why would they mass manufacture something that doesn't fit a twin bed and is impossible to adjust beyond the preset slots? Something weird is going on... anyway, I am going to go and buy two single bed rails from another manufacturer.
