Stretchier than the Woombie, but give it a try,

I really wanted to like this, but my, at the time, 6 week old wouldn't sleep in it, and only fussed. We already had a Woombie, which she sleeps great in. Compared to the Woombie (newborn deluxe) this is stretchier and the neck hole is bigger. She gets her hands out and it's so stretchy that she can put her elbows up by her face, and both of those things annoy her, so all she'll do is cry.
The Swaddlepod is less than half the cost of the Woombie, so it might be worth trying in case your baby likes it, but the Woombie is much better for us. We might try it later when she is bigger. Right now, she is 8 weeks and 10 lb, 2 oz and 22 3/4 oz. Editing several months later: My daughter turned 5 months today, and is still being swaddled (we tried to break her of it but she can't sleep without being swaddled.) So, I feel like we have become experts on Swaddle blankets. She did end up using this one some until about a month ago (until when she was about 12 lb, and we felt it was too short on her. She only used it when all her Woombies were being washed) We now use 3 Big Baby Woombies and 1 Summer Big Baby woombie (our favorite.) This would be perfect if they would put a snap closure across the top that makes the neck hole smaller so there would be no chance that baby would get their arm/hand out. And if they made it larger or in a bigger size. I would purchase it again if they made it in a bigger size now that she is close to 14 lb. So, again, give it a try b/c it is so much cheaper, but if it doesn't work for you, try the Woombie- you will love it!

Swaddle Pod is convenient, inexpensive, and effective,

We had a Houdini preemie - she'd weasel her way out of her swaddle and wake herself up... until the Swaddlepod. This helped to calm her down to sleep and while the neck still allowed her to occasionally pop a hand out, she stayed asleep. We also loved the double zipper for middle of the night diaper changes! A few tips for parents that we wished we had known about:
1) When the baby is tiny (under 7 pounds), the Swaddlepod works more effectively if you put it on over a sleeper. Just putting your pumpkin in a onesie and a Swaddlepod will allow hands to escape. Once your baby chunks up a bit, you'll find it's easier to keep him/her snuggled up in a Swaddlepod. 2) Buy two. Or three. It's inevitable that baby will puke (oh, not my baby!), and you'll want to swap out your Swaddlepod. We found that the Swaddlepod stayed wet around the neck and was uncomfortable for her until we replaced her Swaddlepod for a fresh one. (And truly, as they are relatively inexpensive compared to the Woombie, it behooves you to buy at least two.) 3) Start investigating what you'll do after you've reached the weight limit for this nifty item. She is reaching the weight limit for this product and while she's now fitting into a Swaddleme, we wish that the company would make these in a larger size. (In fact, we've had several friends and relatives joke that they wish the company made these in adult sizes...)

We were originally interested in purchasing the "Woombie" but found this item at a lower price. It seemed similar enough, so we bought 3 of them! We are very glad we did. We have a 1 week old (10 pounder!!!) and this helps him sleep beautifully. It's easy to get on in the middle of the night, allows easy access for diaper changes, and lets the little ones move their arms and legs enough so they are comfy, but restricts them enough so they feel like they are truly in the womb. For this price, you really can't go wrong!I do wish that they made a larger size as well, since it seems our little man will outgrow this fairly soon!

I own several of these and have been using them for the past month on my newborn. They're great. I had intentions of purchasing a woombie but decided to try these first since I could buy 3 of these for the price of 1 of those. My baby was 6lbs 7oz at birth and the swaddlepod fit him with plenty of room. I'm guessing he's about 9lbs now and it still fits him great, it's snugger but still has plenty of stretch to it. I'm always a little scared that he's going to get his arms stuck in the neck hole because he can still move around in it but he never has. The best thing about the pod is the bottom zipper that lets you change diapers at night super easily.

Buy this! Buy several! Buy them for your friends! At only a few weeks old our son is already an accomplished escape artist. We have tried absolutely everything but the little sucker always finds a way out...until now!! Swaddle pod to the rescue! It is the only thing that can contain him and he sleeps so well in it. Just as important, there is no question that this type of swaddler is much safer than the others. There is no fabric that he can accidentally maneuver into his face while trying to escape. Many of the others can ride up into baby's face even if he isn't trying to get out. I love the swaddle pod. Peace of mind, great sleep and no escape!

i'll admit, i saw this in the store and thought it looked absolutely ridiculous. i then spoke to the sales associate while considering different types of swaddlers for our houdini baby. then she recommended it, so i bought it. we LOVE the pod! our 6 week old daughter loves the pod too, which is even better. it keeps all of her limbs at bay, but doesn't suffocate her either. she can move her arms around enough through the stretchy material, and even sometimes get a little bit of her hand to her mouth, but the biggest reason we needed this was to keep her flying arms from hitting her in the face and distracting her from sleep. we've been using this for about 3 weeks and it's become a part of our nighttime routine now. she gets her diaper changed and then i put her in the pod before feeding. she seems to actually enjoy getting in it! i highly recommend this pod!

My son is an absolute Houdini when it comes to swaddles. He broke out of every other product we tried, the Miracle Blanket, the Summer Swaddle Sacks, and even swaddling very tightly like we were taught by the nurses at the hospital with every type of blanket imaginable. I was so scared when I woke up in the middle of the night to find him un-swaddled with the blanket around his face. So of course, I was so relieved when we found this product! It works great, I can change his diaper without disturbing him, and he doesn't get his arms out. The fabric stays well away from the face, and he has some movement of his arms without startling himself awake.
We loved this product, unfortunately, at only 5 1/2 weeks old, he is bursting out of it. He's a big boy, 8lbs at birth and almost 12 now, and the Swaddle Pod is just too tight. I purchased two of these so we would always have one on hand. I came back last night to buy some more in the next size up, and was SO dissapointed to find that the company lacked the foresight to make larger sizes for bigger babies. But, since this concept works so well with my son, I shelled out the extra money for a Woombie. They could have kept my business if they provided a larger range of sizes! The bottom line is, if you have a small baby who can get out of swaddles, this is probably a great product for you. But unfortunately, it's not going to last you long, and if it is what works for your baby, you're going to end up with the much more expensive Woombie.

Too Stretchy,

This was a great price and the reason I bought it as my baby did so well in the Woombie. However, the fabric is far too stretchy for my baby and she will fight against it. Constantly pushing her arms forward and grunting to get out of it. It won't hold her arms down enough for her to settle. If you have a wiggly baby that has to be wrapped tightly to sleep like my little one, this will not work for you.

I am a huge believer in the swaddlers. My daughter has slept more than 5 hours at night since she has come home from the hospital (and 8+ hours from about 2 months on even though she is breastfed) and I strongly believe it is because we use swaddlers. This one is so very very easy to use and is great to take out, because it's very easy to put on. It is also very good to use at night because it can also zip up from the bottom, which makes it easy to change the baby's diaper. I HIGHLY recommend this product!

Great The First Four Months,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Summer Infant Swaddlepod, 0-3 Months ,Ivory (Baby Product)
Our twins were born approx. 5 lbs each and couldn't use the Swaddlepod until they were a month old. The zipper bunched up uncomfortably, and they could get their arms out of the neck hole. Instead, we used the SwaddleMe, which worked well, but wasn't perfect. When they started wiggling out of the SwaddleMe (7 lbs?), we switched to the Swaddlepod, and we've been using it ever since. They're nearly 4 mos old, between 12 and 14 lbs, and just about too big to use the 'pod. Because the fabric is stretchy, we've been able to use it longer than we thought (without making them uncomfortable). Unfortunately, there is no larger size, so we'll have to wean them from swaddling (we're not interested in buying larger sizes of other items). The fabric is very light, so we easily used it with sleepers during the cold spring and now use it with onesies in the hot summer. The zipper at the bottom made nighttime changes easy. They wash up easily, too, and dry quickly if there's a blowout. Now that they're older, they can get one arm out when they want to, but we can still poke it back in if it becomes a problem. No real problems, except now that they've used it for a while, the neck is permanently stretched wide. It would have been nice to have a neckline that was elastic and remained sealed/stretchy. Otherwise, this was a real life saver so we could sleep at night!!
